Synopsis of story:

Cui Qiao, a poor girl in rural areas of northern Shaanxi, was married by her father at an early age. She couldn't get rid of her bad luck and had to express her inner pain with the help of the song I Believe in Heaven. Gu Qing, a literary and art worker of the Eighth Route Army in Yan 'an, came to Cui Qiao's house for a tour. After living and working for a period of time, Cui Qiao's family regarded this "official" as one of their own.

Gu Qing tells the story of Yan 'an women's marital autonomy. After listening to it, Cui Qiao's desire arises spontaneously. Dad is kind, but stupid. He hopes that Trejo will get married in April. Gu Qing is leaving. The old man saw Gu Qing off and sang a song about the tragic fate of women. Gu Qing was deeply moved. Cui Qiao's younger brother, Han Han, followed Gu Dage and sent him one journey after another. Over a ridge, Gu Qing saw Cui Qiao standing on the top of the mountain. She lit up her sweet voice and sang her deep affection for the producer and yearning for freedom and light. She wanted to go to Yan 'an with Gu Dage, but Gu Qing couldn't take her away at the moment, so she said goodbye to them affectionately.

In April, Cui Qiao ran away from her husband's family on her wedding day and risked her life to cross the Yellow River by boat in pursuit of a new life. The wind and waves on the river were dangerous, the yellow water rolled and the boat disappeared in an instant. Two months later, when Gu Qing went to the countryside again, Han Han rushed out of the crowd praying for rain and ran towards him.
