Shanghai Nanyang Middle School, founded in 1896, is known as "the first private school in China" and is the second batch of experimental demonstration high schools in Shanghai, enjoying a high reputation at home and abroad. Photographer Lang Jingshan and literary master Ba Jin studied in Nanyang in their early years, and 12 alumni were honored as academicians of the two academies of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the early 1960s, it was listed as a key middle school in Xuhui District. The school covers an area of 45 mu, with a building area of 1.98 million square meters. The teaching building is spacious and bright.
