Segway: A two-wheeled vehicle with automatic balance.

Today, a colleague got a Segway, which is the one-handed electric car that once appeared in the chase scene of Ocean Park in Jackie Chan's masterpiece "Never Lose" by American inventor Dean Carmen. Segway comes from the English word Segue, which means "walk smoothly". Some people think it is a two-wheeled unicycle, while others think it is a standing scooter, but it is a single-axle and two-wheeled scooter, which is somewhat different from the traditional two-axle and two-wheeled scooter. It seems that it is more accurate to call it "Electric Personal Assisted Walking Device" (EPAMD), commonly known as electric scooter. Dean Carmen's design is inspired by human walking, and the purpose is to design an electric wheelchair, a wheelchair for healthy people.
It is said that Segway will be widely deployed in the Olympic Games for service personnel and photographers. Nothing new, but I've never ridden it (I'm used to riding a bike, but it should be called "driving"). It is said that this car is sold by Jackie Chan's company, so it appears as an advertisement in his movies.
I observed it before riding a bike and probably understood the principle. It turns out that this car is driven by pure electric power, including motion control. The control command is obtained by a precision gyroscope installed on the pedal, and the kinematic concept of "dynamic stability" is used. It is said that the car has a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour and a load of 1 10 kg. The sampling rate of five groups of gyroscopes is as high as 5000 times per second, which has caught up with the riding robot designed by Murata. In addition, the performance of TI TMS320C2000 MCU used for instruction operation at the front end of motor driver chip is really good. No wonder this car costs $6,000 (8W RMB in China, it's caught up with the car ...), which is not only an excellent mechanical design, but also a cost-saving control system.
As long as you have strong self-control, you can imagine the car as a flat plate, step on it quietly, and keep your center of gravity at the center of the longitudinal axis of your body, so that the car can stand there steadily. When the body's center of gravity is forward or backward, the pedal tilts. According to the signals collected by the gyroscope, the arithmetic chip will give instructions to the motor soon, and the car will run immediately. The speed of a car is directly proportional to the inclination of the car body. Turning is achieved by handlebars. Although the shape is almost the same as that of a bicycle, it must not be twisted, otherwise the car will turn in the opposite direction under the reaction of both feet. The correct way is to gently pull the handle in the direction you want to turn, or you can use the inclination of the pedal horizontal plane to control the direction. This means that if the body's center of gravity is tilted to the left and right, you can also turn. The turning action depends on the speed difference between the two wheels, and the car can turn in place like a tank when it is stationary.
The average person can control it in 2 minutes. In principle, as long as the battery is fully charged, there is no need to worry about falling, which is completely different from the traditional scooter that requires the driver to balance. High technology is different. I fell a lot when I first learned to ride a bike.
