How is the lighting of the library designed?

According to the Design Standard for Lighting Buildings, the illuminance standard value of general reading room, exhibition room and catalogue hall of China Library is 300lx, and the illuminance standard value of reading room of national, provincial and important libraries, reading room for the aged and reading room of ancient books maps is 500lx. These are just specifications for artificial lighting design. It would be better if there is a plan to introduce natural light into architectural design.

Library lighting design

1, lighting mode

The lighting modes of the library can be divided into natural lighting and artificial lighting.

There are two ways of natural lighting: top lighting (natural light is directly or indirectly distributed indoors from top to bottom through the glass structure at the top of the building) and side lighting (natural light is projected into the reading room environment through the glass window of the building wall);

Natural lighting is influenced and restricted by architectural entities, so it is difficult to effectively illuminate every space in the room. In a low-light space, even during the day, artificial lighting is still needed to make up for its deficiency.

The library should give priority to artificial lighting, supplemented by natural lighting.

2, lamps and lanterns layout

Libraries are mainly divided into reading areas and stacks areas, and their lighting standards are also different.

Reading room: The reading room has a large area, so it is advisable to use two or more embedded fluorescent lamps or LED flat lamps to increase the light emitting area of lamps and improve the indoor lighting quality.

Stack room: The key points to be paid attention to in the lighting design of the stack room are: the light emitted by the light source on the ceiling can't directly hit people's eyes, and there can't be glare. The vertical illumination of the bookshelf should be uniform, especially to ensure the illumination requirements of the lower part of the bookshelf.

3. Lighting standards in different regions

In addition to the reading room and stacks, the library also has different functional areas, such as reading rooms, workshops and cashier rooms of different age groups, all of which have different areas and lighting standards.

For people who like reading, the light environment design of the library is also extremely important. On lamps and lanterns, choose efficient and energy-saving, uniform light, comfortable and soft lighting products, even if you read for a long time, it will not damage your physical strength.
