Teach you to shoot without flash.
Teach you a few shooting methods without flash, because flash is so easy to use. Sometimes we are so used to it, especially portrait photography, that it is unprofessional without flash. And some owners even ask photographers how many lights they have, which is regarded as the standard of professionalism, just like participating in the Five Lights Award. But if sometimes the subjects don't like flash, or their characteristics are not suitable for flash. We don't even have a flash. What should we do at this time?
I have taken some cases of shooting artists, and they are just not suitable for flash, because they are all very individual. If you keep flashing, it's hard to guarantee that a few dirty eyes and swearing words won't fly. Secondly, their concerns are usually rooted in the context of personnel, and the use of flash sometimes gives viewers a hint that they are out of time and space, because the light of flash is rare in our daily experience and has nothing to do with the original environment. Thirdly, some people are a little old, so I can't use my favorite backlight flash method for beautiful girls on them. So in the end, I had to take pictures without a flash. Here are some tips for real shooting.
If you don't use a flash, it means that you can shoot boldly and continuously, and you are not afraid to blind each other. At this time, you can capture some subtle movements, but it is more delicious. For example, this photo was taken for the jazz pianist Sue. At that time, she just subconsciously curled her hair and didn't design any movements.
Of course, the most lazy way is to use the light on the spot, but it should be noted that in the case of backlight, it is usually necessary to use a flash to fill the light.
If there is no good light source, the desk lamp in the room is a good friend of the photographer, but sometimes if we have a flash, we will subconsciously want to fill the light in the dark, and the atmosphere will be destroyed.
If the scene environment is special, it can also create a visual effect, and because there is no flash, it will have a more chaotic sense of reality, so that the texture of things shows what we have experienced.
Entering the window at 45 degrees, the light about one meter away from the subject is also a good friend of the photographer.
Some people are totally unsuitable for flash, such as photographer Hou Conghui. I can't imagine shooting him with a flash.
In fact, flash is one of the methods of photography, and there is no reason to use it or not (unless it is Sam Bell or Bresson). It's just that sometimes we are used to reading magazines and advertisements, and think that a successful portrait photo can only be successful if the characters are brightly photographed. I even watched a short film, and it was always backlit, whether I was eating or running. At this point, it's a bit of a fight for the sake of a fight. But in fact, flash is just a shooting method for specific needs (such as magazines quickly creating photos with strong visual effects). So I won't be too nervous when there is no flash, unless that's the feeling you want when you shoot beautiful women, that's another matter.
