How to understand the broken line and blank space in news photography?

Personally, I think blank space is to highlight the theme, add some emotions of the photographer or express the emotions of the photographer, and render some absurd or thought-provoking situations and atmosphere, which is of course attached to the second point.

The dotted line plays the role of breaking the picture, causing a sense of visual conflict or imbalance, which contributes to the rhythm and atmosphere of the picture. But after all, it's all about better expressing the theme and expressing the photographer's subjective emotions.
