In June, 2003, Suixi County was named "the hometown of lion dance in China" by the French Folk Writers Association.

Suixi lion dance belongs to the southern lion dance and enjoys the reputation of the hometown of lion dance. It visited many countries on behalf of China. Zhanjiang Suixi Wencheng Lion Dance Troupe is a special guest of the lion dance performance at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
