Photographic skills of shooting babies

Lead: Baby photos are natural, and unadorned photos can better show the innocence of babies. Let's take a look at the practical photography skills of shooting babies.

1

Everyone knows that the baby's eyeball is still developing. I don't think any parents will be willing to risk flashing lights for their little baby, even if it is jumping lights! Natural light is definitely the best choice to shoot your baby, and the light by the window is within reach, so if it is daytime, it is recommended to push your baby to the window and let the soft light shine in.

Natural light is the best choice for taking pictures of babies.

2. Understand the adjustment of the baby's routine/shooting angle.

Babies are usually awake or asleep for several hours a day, which must be a good time to capture the camera. Parents are advised to capture their babies from different angles. After understanding the light in the environment, if the baby's eyes are open, then by adjusting the angle between the camera and the baby, you can also create a vision in the baby's eyes. Does the baby look more vivid?

The telephoto lens captures the baby's facial expression.

3. Focus and shooting mode

Many times, when focusing, you must pay attention to the baby's eye close to you. Unless necessary, novice parents are advised to use the aperture prerequisite mode of the camera. If the baby is facing you, you can turn up the aperture, blur the background or create a front lens so that the photo can be completely focused on the beautiful baby. However, if the baby is slightly facing you, it is best to reduce the aperture by two or three levels as appropriate to increase the depth of field, so that the baby's other face and eyes will not be too blurred. If it is a group photo, please enlarge it so that all the people can see it clearly.

Large aperture and shallow depth of field make the baby's main body stand out.

4. Photo type

The close-up of the baby's face must be a staple food in the parents' camera, but besides the face, don't forget that cute hands and feet are also good subjects! If you have spare time, be sure to take some photos of your baby drinking milk, taking a bath and interacting with yourself and other family members. And when many relatives and friends visit, please be sure to leave precious family photos.

5. Composition of photos

As Kappa, the master of war photography, said: If you don't shoot well enough, is it because you are not close enough? . It is best to get close to the baby without blocking the light and the camera can focus, so that he can occupy the camera and become the only protagonist. Compared with the baby who is straight in the picture, it will be more dynamic if his body can lie sideways in the picture.

Diagonal composition expands the baby's sight.

6. Prospects and background

In principle, the simpler the background, the better. White beds and solid walls are a good background. Sometimes the white quilt or the border of the crib can be used as the foreground scene in time to make the whole picture more textured.

The soft blanket is simple and clean as the background.

7. Use of props

Are you tired of taking hundreds of pictures of your baby? At this time, you might as well buy some brightly colored props for your baby, whether it is a hat or a toy, which can add a lot of color to the photo!

The vague prospect makes the baby's subject clearer.

8. Moderate exposure

This is what I think is very important. Most baby photos want to reveal the feeling of cuteness, innocence and hope, so most of them use bright photos to present such an atmosphere. Because of the principle of camera photometry, if you choose weighing photometry, when the picture is full of white or light-colored objects, the overall exposure will be lower than that seen by the naked eye, so please be sure to add exposure compensation! My habit is to add' values ranging from +2/3 to+1, and then make adjustments after shooting. It is not a big problem that the background is slightly overexposed or dead white. The baby's face must be exposed correctly, otherwise the whole photo will be dull and tasteless. If the camera has built-in highlight tone priority function, it is also recommended to turn it on, which can make the details of the highlight part better and reduce the appearance of dead white.

When the overall exposure is lower than that seen by naked eyes, the exposure compensation must be increased.

9. Adjustment of white balance

The automatic white balance of the camera is quite accurate in today's era, but the white balance given by the camera is not necessarily what we want. For example, this big photo wants to express a warm atmosphere, and the background is wooden, so it keeps the tone of yellow indoor light. In this photo, the baby is in front of the window, but at the same time, it is illuminated by yellow indoor light. We slightly cool the color temperature to make the baby's face whiter and more tender, and also let the natural light in the background have a little light blue tone to enhance the charm of the photo. Every photo suggests that you can try a different white balance, which sometimes has unexpected effects.

Improving the white balance will make the picture warm.
