Today, we will learn how to make rational use of light to help you shoot better works.
1. Basic knowledge of photographic lighting:
Classification of light sources: natural light, spotlight and artificial light.
Quality of light: hard light and soft light.
Direction of lighting: front light, back light, side light, side front light, side back light, top light and bottom light.
? Attach some tips for running out:
1. The larger the relative area of the light source, the softer the light.
2. Positive light is conducive to realism.
3. Shoot people's silhouette in the backlight.
4. The outline of the side backlight.
5. Side light enhances the three-dimensional sense and texture.
6. Strong light enhances the three-dimensional sense and texture.
7, soft light display material is exquisite.
Light is an ever-changing thing, which can help your work to add icing on the cake. ?
1. Classification of light sources
natural light
Natural light, also known as "natural light", is the light that sunlight shines on the ground, as well as moonlight and starlight. The intensity and direction of natural light can't be adjusted and controlled artificially by photographers, and they can only follow the natural light irradiation conditions. Therefore, when shooting in natural light, we should know the change and angle of light in advance.
Field lighting
Live lighting usually refers to various artificial light sources that are not controlled by photographers, such as the light from windows, neon lights, street lamps, fireplaces or neon lights at the performance site. Spotlight also includes a spotlight beam that hits a ballet dancer on the stage, or a candlelight that illuminates a lover's face. In this light environment, it is particularly important to highlight the atmosphere of the scene.
artificial light
The artificial light mentioned here refers to the special light source for artificial photography. The intensity, direction and color temperature of light are controlled by photographers, such as flashlights. There are two kinds of artificial light sources for LED photography, one is continuous light source and the other is flash. The difference between a continuous light source and a flash is that one is always visible and the other is short-lived and needs to be foreseen.
2. Quality of light
highlight
Hard light, also known as "direct light", is generally directly emitted by a light source without being transmitted and reflected by other materials. The light source of strong light is often a point light source. Such as sunny sunshine, spotlights and floodlights in artificial light sources.
[Features] The contrast between light and shade is large, which is conducive to the embodiment of texture. Suitable for masculine and rough objects. It is beneficial to show the details, texture and three-dimensional sense of the scene.
subdued light
Soft light refers to diffuse light. Light is softened by transmission or reflection of a material. Like the sunshine in the fog! Light transmitted by indoor curtains, natural light reflected by walls and floors, etc.
[Features] Soft light is characterized by soft transition between light and shade, weak three-dimensional sense and texture, which is conducive to the performance of smooth and bright materials, and is mostly used to shoot women and children.
3. Direction of light
Front lighting
The split light is the light on the front of the camera, and there is no obvious light-dark relationship on the picture.
Advantages: clear imaging, color, line, shape and atmosphere can be truly restored. Disadvantages: dull, weak three-dimensional sense and lack of depth.
Backlighting
When the light shines from the back of the subject, it is backlight. The edges of the main characters have obvious light contours, and the contrast between light and dark is obvious.
Advantages: the backlight has a strong sense of modeling, which is conducive to outlining, expressing levels and creating an atmosphere. Disadvantages: exposure is difficult to grasp because of extremely uneven illumination.
Side lamp
Side light is light that shines 90 degrees from the side of the subject. The protagonist has obvious light receiving surface and backlight surface, and the light direction is very clear.
Advantages: The light on the side of the subject will produce a strong contrast between light and shade, which will highlight the shape, lines and texture. Disadvantages: Side light is easy to expose skin defects in portrait photography.
Side smoothness
If the light shines from the front of the subject at an angle of 45 degrees, it is side light.
Advantages: The picture taken by sidelight is rich in hue and gradation, which not only helps to express the shape of the characters, but also highlights the three-dimensional sense. Disadvantages: It is very important to control the light ratio and area ratio of light and dark parts.
Backlighting
The light incident obliquely from the front of the camera and forming an angle of about 120~ 150 degrees with the lens is called side backlight. It can well express the three-dimensional sense of the subject, with rich levels and easy to produce good light and shadow effects.
Advantages: the side backlight has a strong sense of space, and the picture is rich and lively. Disadvantages: inaccurate metering can easily lead to overexposure or underexposure of the picture.
top light
The top light, as its name implies, is the light above the head, also called skeleton light. The most representative top light is the midday sun, which makes the protruding part brighter and the sunken part darker, and makes ugly shadows appear under the eyes and nose of the characters. In outdoor portrait shooting, top light should be avoided as much as possible. If you can't avoid it, you can put the reflector under your face to eliminate the shadow.
Bottom lamp
Bottom light is the light that shines vertically from people's feet, which often makes the subject look cruel, while pure bottom light is easy to form an insidious, horrible and rigid effect. Bottom light is more common in stage lighting, but less used in character shooting. The low-angle reflector, the floor lamp in the square and the reflection of the stream under the bridge also have the nature of bottom light.
