The time-lapse photos taken by astronauts on the International Space Station are beautiful.

△ Time-lapse shooting on the space station

Astronauts on the International Space Station can have a panoramic view of the world. It took only 92 minutes for the orbital laboratory to complete the orbit of the whole earth, so people inside kept seeing the sunrise, sunset and all possible stars. This also makes the space station an ideal place for time-lapse photography.

Usually, time-lapse photographic images showing the activities of so many stars need to be taken all night, but due to the speed of the International Space Station orbiting the earth, it only takes 1 1 minute. This is the result of about 400 independent photos taken by the space station when it passed through a large area of Africa.

You can see a lot of things in this photo. NASA has provided us with all the information represented by colors:

The image includes many natural and artificial lights that astronauts may see in orbit at night. On the ground, static features (such as cities) show pale yellow and white dotted stripes; Each point marks another captured frame. Many thin dotted lines with deep orange tones indicate the burning fires in Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

What you see without stripes is actually lightning caused by a thunderstorm across Africa. The green halo you see on the horizon is actually the upper atmosphere of the earth.

This is a very cool photo and an excellent example of how astronauts can enjoy themselves when they arrive at the International Space Station. The space station is currently settled by the 6 1 expedition, which consists of three NASA scientists, two Russian astronauts and one astronaut from the European Space Agency. This work will continue until the beginning of 2020.
