Introduction

Jinxi Ancient Town is an ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of more than 2,000 years. It is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Folk Museums", with numerous cultural landscapes, historical sites, and countless unique and clear buildings. Famous scenic spots include Tongque Terrace, Chenfei Water, Lianchi Temple, etc.

Introduction to Jinxi Ancient Town

Jinxi Ancient Town is located on the bank of Dianshan Lake in the southern suburbs of Kunshan. It is a Jiangnan water town with a thousand-year history. The ancient town is not big. The ancient lotus bridge that looks like a Chinese landscape painting and the mysterious Chen Feishui Tomb attract tourists to visit. Various folk collections are also worth visiting, and there are various snack bars in the old street.

The folk collections include the Ancient Bricks and Tiles Museum, the Zisha Museum, and the Pot Museum, where visitors can recall the history of the Cultural Revolution. Snacks on the old streets include stocking cakes, Chimelong moon cakes, crabapple cakes, etc. This is a specialty of Jinxi, and there are also delicious Jiangnan specialties such as glutinous rice cake, pork and hooves.

Walking along the water alley to the end of the old street, your horizons will broaden. In front of a pond full of rowing boats, there are Lianchi Temple and Wenchang Pavilion, which were built in the Southern Song Dynasty. The incense in the temple is very strong. On the lake near the Zen temple, green lotus flowers bloom in summer, reflecting the ancient lotus bridge. The scenery is beautiful and a great spot for photography. The tomb of Emperor Xiaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty, Chen Feishui Tomb, is still located on the lake. It is said that no matter how the water level changes, the water mound is always exposed on the lake, which is a famous sight.

Although Jinxi has water alleys, stone bridges, and promenades that are common in Jiangnan ancient towns, and is not as famous as nearby Zhouzhuang and Tongli, it is cleaner and the living atmosphere is richer and simpler. Walking in the water alley, you can often see local adults sitting in the promenade drinking tea and chatting, giving a laid-back city style.
