Brief introduction of LAN

Lan Guizhi, also known as Lan Guizhi. Pen name Lan Yu, Ba Qing. 1, an important figure in the history of new China photography, was a representative figure of Tibet photography in 1950s and 1970s, and was a photographer who created classic images of Tibet in this period. Lan is not only a witness to the democratic reform in Tibet, but also a recorder of the great changes in Tibetan society in the past 20 years. 1952, Lan, who was only 19 years old, went to Tibet from his hometown of Sichuan to work as a photojournalist for the 18th Army of the People's Liberation Army. During his 20 years in Tibet, he vividly recorded a series of major historical events, such as the People's Liberation Army's entry into Tibet, the construction of Kangzang Highway, the suppression of rebellion, democratic reform and the establishment of Xizang Autonomous Region, which truly reproduced the historical changes of Tibetan society.
