How does the camera shoot lightning?

Canon 450D always focuses automatically when shooting the sky, because the sky has no reference to focus on.

Camera focusing generally adopts the principle of ultrasonic or infrared reflection. There is no object in the sky that can reflect ultrasonic waves or infrared rays (neither can clouds), so it is impossible to focus.

In fact, you don't need to focus when shooting the sky, because the sky is far enough, you don't need to focus, and the shot sky is very clear.

Shoot lightning in the following ways:

1. Use door B, press the shutter when you hear thunder (of course, you need to know where there will be lightning), and then release the shutter after flashing;

2. Use the smallest aperture, such as f/ 16 or f/22;

Use a tripod
