Chengdu 20 years ago?

Passing through Kuanzhai Lane, an ancient block in Ming and Qing Dynasties, there are rows of messy houses, buildings with log structure, mottled traces and white walls.

There were no street lights in these old streets and alleys, and the power went out that night. The shops, houses and restaurants we passed were lit with candles. An old couple sat on a bamboo chair at the table in front of the house, holding rice bowls and eating some simple home-cooked dishes together.

This was written by Fu Xia-Dunlop, an English girl from Chengdu in the 1990s.

When she came to Chengdu again, it was already 14 years. She said that Chengdu has changed a lot. "These changes let me know Chengdu from another angle."

What changes have taken place in Chengdu these years?

We used the lens of a 60-year-old photographer to capture the history of Chengdu's urban changes, which is also the exclusive memory of Chengdu.

The recorder of urban changes, named Chen Xianmin, is 64 years old.

When I first met Mr. Chen Lao, he was wearing a dark cotton-padded jacket, which was simple but full of energy. He said that a whole afternoon was set aside for the interview that day.

Although he is old, it is not as easy to operate in front of the computer as young people, but the old man is familiar with his pictures and materials.

Surprisingly, over 60 years old, he can even remember many short stories about taking photos, and he can tell two sentences with relish every time he turns them over.

"It is my task to keep the old look and show the new look with the lens."
