Can I watch a stereoscopic movie without glasses?
There are two common ways to watch stereoscopic movies: one is to wear red and green glasses when watching black and white stereoscopic movies; The second is how to wear polarized glasses when watching color stereoscopic movies.
1. Wear red and green glasses to watch black and white stereoscopic movies.
Two projectors, one of which projects a red image through a red filter and the other projects a green image through a green filter. These two images are superimposed on the screen simultaneously.
The audience wears glasses with red and green cellophane as lenses.
If you write on white paper with red pen and green pen respectively, you can see that the whole line of white paper turns red through red glasses, and the scarlet letter on it is also red, so you can't see the scarlet letter when you mix it together. But the green light can't pass through the red glasses, and you can't see the green word through the green glasses, only the scarlet letter.
When a movie viewer wears red and green glasses and sees a red and green picture on the screen, his left eye only sees the green image (this is the scene shot by the left camera), while his right eye only sees the red image (this is the scene shot by the right camera), which creates a three-dimensional sense that is seen on the spot.
2. Wear a polarizer to watch color stereoscopic movies.
Color stereoscopic movies are made by using the polarization of light. What is polarization?
We know that light is a shear wave, just like the fluctuation caused by vibrating one end of a long rope on the court. The direction of vibration can be vertical vibration on the ground, left vibration and right vibration on the ground or other directions.
Ordinary light is a light wave that vibrates in all directions. If these light waves pass through a special transparent film, this transparent film only allows light waves in a certain vibration direction to pass through, but does not allow light waves in other vibration directions to pass through. Like a rope through a fence.
Light waves that vibrate in a certain plane are called polarized light. A transparent film or glass sheet that filters polarized light from ordinary light is called a polarizer or polarizer. The picture below shows glasses made of polarizing plates. Polarized light transmitted by the left lens and the right lens is perpendicular to each other. Therefore, polarized light that can pass through the left eye cannot pass through the right eye, and vice versa.
Two film projectors, each with a polarizer, project two polarized light images on a metal screen at the same time (the reflection of metal will not change the direction of polarized light), and the vibration directions of the two polarized light beams are at right angles to each other.
The audience also wears glasses made of polarizers. The lens of the left eye only allows the image of the left camera to pass through, while the lens of the right eye only allows the image of the right camera to pass through, thus creating a stereoscopic impression.
