What are the reasons for the closure of many steamed bun shops in Linyi City?
At 7: a.m. on May 21st, the police of Lanshan Food and Drug Environmental Investigation Brigade and the staff of lanshan district Municipal Market Supervision Administration carried out joint law enforcement, and made a surprise inspection of several breakfast stalls in the jurisdiction, among which "aluminum-containing" baking powder was found in 18 steamed buns shops, which were distributed in streets and development zones such as Xiguan, Nanguan, Beiyuan and Economic Development Zone, involving steamed buns and soup filling.
"The buns sold in these stalls are beautiful in appearance, big and white, but the aluminum content in the buns exceeds 1mg/ kg." The police handling the case of the Food and Drug Environmental Investigation Brigade of the Public Security Bureau introduced that the buns made of baking powder are more "hue", and it takes four or five hours for normal hair, and it only takes four or five minutes to use baking powder.
baking powder is a chemical compound bulking agent. After adding steamed bread, steamed stuffed bun, bread and other pasta, it can quickly foam and become bulky, so it is widely used as a food additive. "Now there are two kinds of baking powder containing aluminum and baking powder without aluminum on the market, but the price gap between them is relatively large. Some unscrupulous merchants use baking powder containing aluminum to make their hair." The police handling the case introduced.
The police told reporters that excessive aluminum in the body is extremely harmful, which can lead to an increase in bone density and osteoporosis, which can cause organic lesions in brain tissue, memory loss and even dementia, and also reduce skin elasticity and increase wrinkles. However, some unscrupulous traders use aluminum-containing baking powder in large quantities for profit.
Because long-term consumption of food containing excessive aluminum will harm human health, the National Health and Family Planning Commission and other five departments have clearly stipulated in the Announcement on Adjusting the Provisions on the Use of Aluminum-containing Food Additives that from July 1, 214, any aluminum-containing additives such as baking powder and alum will be banned from wheat flour and its products.
At present, all the "poisonous buns" seized by the police have been sent to the relevant inspection departments in Qingdao for testing, and the re-inspection results will be announced soon. Eighteen steamed bun shop owners were dealt with according to law, and five of them were criminally compulsory by Weicheng Public Security Bureau for allegedly producing and selling toxic and harmful food. The case is under further investigation.
