If Leica is only used as a photographic tool, what advantages does it have over the micro-single on the market now?
1, Leica's advantage lies in cultivating communication between photographers and subjects. Leica M (not to mention S-series SLR) is mostly fixed-focus lens, and Leica's 35-focus lens is basically dominant. As we all know, shooting a person at 35 focus must be at least 2 meters in front of this person, which requires the photographer to have an equal, good communication and kind heart to communicate with the subject and reduce the subject. Thirty years ago, people could face all kinds of cameras calmly, but now people have a natural resistance to cameras. Communication between the photographer and the subject is very important for Leica to create good portraits. If you don't have this ability, it's best to shoot directly with a Japanese SLR+telephoto lens, or hide a smaller micro-single in your hand near the camera, but such photos often lack an emotional expression.
2. Leica's optics will always be one of the strongest products of the same age and grade. Each Leica lens has its own unique charm and style. Take the 35-focus profile as an example. The first generation of Eight Sisters has a very strong gray level and a very delicate level, while the second generation of six films has a strong central resolution and slightly weak corners, which is most suitable for shooting in various prominent centers. The third generation of Seven Sisters is known as the king of the show, and Jiao Wai is exquisite and feminine ... Each generation of lenses, such as magnification, DR, rigidity, high focus, Tiger Claw (new moon), current version and AA version, has completely different images. Many Leica users regard different versions of lenses as unique lenses. On the other hand, Japanese SLR and micro-single lens have been produced from generation to generation. Has anyone ever said that each generation of lenses has its own style and taste? Is there anyone who is obsessed with a certain generation of lenses?
3. The unique focusing form design of Leica lens has great advantages for cultivating the photographer's sense of distance. Leica lens is most concerned about the design of focus ring. After getting used to it, I basically don't need to look at the macular hole. It is 0.7M at 4 o'clock, 1M at 5 o'clock, 2M at 6 o'clock, 5M at 7 o'clock and infinity at 8 o'clock. Many old Leica users basically don't look at the focus screen, and the camera hangs on the chest, focusing purely manually. It is more convenient to capture emergencies than an autofocus camera. Bresson said: This is how the "decisive moment" was realized.
4. Leica's imaging has unique advantages. The advantages of imaging are not only resolution and color, but also defocusing imaging, layering, excessive color and so on. In terms of solid color, Leica has a unique style, which can be realized mostly by later software, but it is difficult to completely simulate the image of Canon and Sony into Leica's color style. Secondly, for defocus imaging, it is difficult to imitate. If we want to change the star-shaped Jiao Wai spot (characteristic of Fu Lunda) into a round spot in the later stage, the difficulty will not be mentioned. In addition, the Leica lens level is too high, and the clear blur characteristics from the subject to the edge can be adjusted later, but it takes a lot of time and is not necessarily satisfactory. The focus is on lens contrast. Leica has always advocated the use of lenses with low contrast. Although the contrast of Leica's new lenses has been improved again and again due to the digital age, the contrast of other brands' lenses is still low in the same period. One of the benefits of low contrast is that there are too many colors. For example, taking a black-and-white photo is a wider gray, and the gray from black to white can be infinitely excessive. However, if modern lenses are shot in black and white, most of the excesses lack this kind of detail color conversion. The disadvantage of low contrast is that the resolution is not high enough. Gao Fancha's lens has a natural advantage in resolution, but the stereoscopic effect is difficult to show after the contrast is high. In addition, Leica has another advantage in the later stage. In the same RAW format, Leica has a lot of room for adjustment in the later period, because the latitude of Leica RAW is higher than that of brands on the market. The advantage of high latitude is that the gamut adjustment range is wider. I compared the photos of M9 and A7R later. A7R can't be adjusted when the color is adjusted to a certain proportion, and then it will overflow. However, the adjustable space of RAW of Leica M9 is about 20% higher than A7R.
As we all know, Leica resists falling. It is no secret that Leica lenses not only resist falling but also preserve value, even if they preserve value, they will increase in value.
Let's talk about shortcomings first:
1 expensive. A set of M240+M35/2A is 50,000 parallel imports, which is the basic configuration of Leica (compared with M50/ 1, M50/2AA, M50/0.95, 50,000 lenses can't be received). This 50,000 yuan was exchanged. The maintenance cost is high, and you can go back to Germany for three months at any time, and you don't have a license. It will cost at least 5000 yuan or 6000 yuan to repair.
2, durable and not resistant to bumps, because Leica insists on using metal as the fuselage is more durable, but it is difficult to keep it intact. After accidentally falling, it will not affect the work of the camera. Unfortunately, metal will knock a hole, which will seriously affect the mood. I can't afford to shoot for a month or two in a row. It's better to use plastic for SLR and micro-single.
It is too difficult for beginners to operate. Many people just started to use Leica, and the focus is not accurate, the speed is not fast, JPG travels for a long time, and the composition is difficult ... It may take more than 3 years to use Leica, which is too difficult to use compared with SLR and micro-single display.
4, the electronic performance is 5 slag, compared with Japanese SLR and micro-single, Leica can only be 5 slag (but when it comes to the convenience and comfort of manual operation, if Leica says second, no one really dares to say that he is the first).
5. It is difficult to maintain itself. Leica is becoming more and more expensive now. If you go to the northwest to collect wind and dust storms come, it is simple and convenient to disassemble and maintain the old lens. Now Leica is always aspheric and always has a floating lens, which is more accurate than any lens on the market. Accidentally into the sand, directly scrapped, irreparable.
6.M9, M9-P, ME and MM are prone to CCD peeling and cracking. Although Leica promises to replace it for free, it is normal to wait in line for less than half a year, and the same fault may occur after replacement. This CMOS machine M240 won't have these faults at all, forcing you to upgrade.
