About the film

As a writer, Philip Claude has always been good at constructing rich characters and complex life situations with plain brushwork, so has his screen debut style. The core of the story is the reconstruction of sisterhood. Because of her previous crimes, her sister Juliet's life in 15 was ruined and psychologically full of holes. Sister Leia has the courage to open the door to her sister, but it is extremely difficult to really face and accept her.

Although Juliet once killed her 6-year-old son, the crime was shocking enough, but the film did not have any traces of melodrama, but always put the characters in daily situations. Juliet wants to return to life after she is released from prison, but what she faces is the distrust and rejection of her brother-in-law, the rejection of her employer, and the curiosity, exploration and exposure of Leiya's friends. These are all related to her past, so the film is simple and clear in narrative structure, but full of characters and profound psychological insight is fascinating.

The film was shot in Nancy Town, Lorraine District, eastern France, which is the hometown of director Philip Claudel. The scenery here is similar to Paris, but quieter and cleaner. The whole shooting process was very smooth, and the director tried his best to create a family-like atmosphere, so that the actors could better enter the state.

The gloomy picture of photographer Jerome Alméras conveys a feeling of depression, which just fits the mood of the characters. He deliberately reduces the color saturation of the picture and pursues the texture of the image. This image style is reminiscent of Chielovsky's and luc dardenne's films. Compared with the cold picture, Jean-Louis Aubert's guitar score is too soft and sweet.

About actors

Sasha jackson kristin scott thomas's performance is the highlight of the whole movie, and her exquisite and skillful acting has won unanimous praise from critics. I will love you for a long time is to Thomas what Ou Rong's Under the Sand is to charlotte rampling. Both of them are the metamorphosis works of two outstanding actresses who have never been confused.

Although Juliet played by Thomas in this film is still rich and sensitive, it is quite different from the previous screen image. She is famous for playing the noble, charming, witty and interesting Catherine in the love epic The English Patient. In Bitter Moon, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and The Horse Whisperer, they are also exquisite women in the upper class, full of wisdom and charm. This time, Juliet is a sloppy woman who loves silence and smoking. She is lonely but mysterious, which can attract the audience to follow her, walk into her and explore her secrets. Thomas's interpretation is delicate, natural and impactful. Her exquisite restraint and self-examination in the performance made Juliet not feel sorry for herself, but also made the film just right.

French actress ailsa ZilBestaing, who plays her sister Leia, has always dared to try different roles and performed well in this film. But compared with Thomas's wonderful interpretation, it is still slightly inferior. When expressing Leia's emotional outburst, Elsa Zil Beistine's performance lacked some tension and weight.
