What is photographic lighting?

Photography is the art of light and shadow, that is, there must be light;

Lighting is to illuminate the subject; Express the subject;

Cloth light succinctly stated:

1, adjust the angle and height of light: move the position up and down, left and right; Move up and down and rotate the tripod. And move the front, back, left and right positions of the whole lamp.

2. There is also the physical brightness of light. There are knobs on the studio lights to control the light intensity: 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, full light, etc. As the knob rotates, the intensity of light will dim or brighten.

3. The lighting also uses hard light and soft light. The hard light is the studio light: remove the soft light cloth in front, and the bare light is hard light, and replace it with a condenser lens cover and a honeycomb cover. These highly directional lights are also strong lights;

Soft light, that is, with the soft light box, the light becomes soft, the illumination area is large, the diffusion is good, and the reflected light of the subject is also well controlled.

The brightness of the light should be divided into primary and secondary: the main light is the brightest;

The auxiliary lamp is used to offset the shadow generated by the main lamp; It can also be called fill light.

There are several kinds of auxiliary lights: side lights are called side lights; The light hitting the background is called: background light; The background light that hits the character's hair is called: hairstyle light; These are common auxiliary lights, also called auxiliary lights, and there are many kinds: the front one is called front side light; Back side light is back side metering; The light directly behind is the light facing the camera lens, which is called backlight; Wait, don't worry about these names, just know what these lights do.

Backlight is the light facing the camera, which is called backlight. The light in the same direction as the camera is called smooth light. The left and right sides of the camera are: side light;

An example lets you know the classic lighting method:

When a model faces you, set the light on the left as the main light (or on the right) and adjust the light intensity to: full light, 2 meters in front of the model on the left; The angle is 45 degrees from the front of the model; The height of the lamp is also the 45-degree angle of the model's cheek, and the relative lamp is 30CM higher than the model, and the angle is downward.

Set the main light, then the right side of the model is the auxiliary light, the height and distance are the same as the main light, that is, adjust the light intensity to half, that is, the general brightness of the whole light.

You can also put a front auxiliary light on the floor in front of the media, directly on the floor without a tripod; The intensity of light can be set to one eighth.

A background light was placed behind the model and a honeycomb cover was installed. Angle up, the light intensity is set to half or quarter.

After such a lighting is completed, this column has: 1 main lights; 3 auxiliary lights.

Take one or two photos first to see if the exposure of the photos is accurate. See if the lighting effect meets your photography requirements?

Then move and adjust the position of the lamp accordingly. Meet your lighting and photography requirements.
