Zhongshan, Guangdong, is located in the south-central part of the Pearl River Delta, bordering Lingdingyang in the east. Known as "Xiangshan" in ancient times, it is a national historical and cultural city and one of the representative cities of Guangfu culture. Xiangshan Culture, which originated in Zhongshan, is an important source of modern culture in China. Zhongshan is the hometown of the great Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and it is also an important node city in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and one of the regional central cities in Guangdong Province.

Located in the center of Zhongshan, Qijiang Park is a theme park transformed from the former site of Yue Zhong Shipyard in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. The design of the park when it was rebuilt was very interesting. It introduces some design concepts of western environmental protection, ecological restoration and urban renewal, and is a successful example of industrial site protection and reuse. Qijiang Park has won numerous awards at home and abroad: in 2002, it won the annual honorary design award of American Association of Landscape Architects, the architectural art award of China, the gold award of national art exhibition and the comprehensive gold award of modern outstanding national architecture in China, the "highest honor award" of outstanding design of world urban waterfront in 2008 and the ULI Asia-Pacific outstanding honor award in 2009 ... Therefore, Shanshan took time to visit the park.

Walking along the Qijiang River, approaching the entrance of Qijiang Park, I saw an abandoned railway, with some mechanical shapes that looked full of artistic design. At this time, Qijiang Park still retains the most representative workshops, buildings and production tools on the original site of Zhongshan Yue Zhong Shipyard. After artistic treatment by designers, the original landmark objects such as dock, skeleton water tower, railway track, machinery and gantry crane are connected in series, which records the glorious and fiery memory of the shipyard and forms a complete story.

Back in time, let's look back at the predecessor of Qijiang Park: Zhongshan Yue Zhong Shipyard. Yue Zhong Shipyard is the first factory newly built after the liberation of Zhongshan, and also the first provincial state-owned factory. It was once the symbol of Zhongshan's industrialization development, starting from 1954 and ending at 1999, and experienced a difficult and meaningful industrialization process in new China.

In the early days, Yuezhong Shipyard mainly built wooden marine fishing boats. In 1960s, Guangdong began to strengthen inland passenger transport. Guangdong Central Shipyard built the first iron-powered passenger ship "Hongyu" in the province, and later renamed it "Red Star", gradually replacing the wooden "Huawei Capital". Since then, the shipyard has mainly produced Shagang inland river and coastal transport ships. In order to cooperate with the national policy, Yuezhong Shipyard later built a number of transport ships, which were specially used to export goods to and from Hong Kong, Macao and other provinces. Unfortunately, the shipyard began to decline in the 1980s, and 1999 was completely shut down. In the same year, the Zhongshan municipal government decided to transform this place, which is what we see now.

Shanshan walked in the park for a week, and there were several landscapes such as amber water tower, skull water tower, red memory and Zhongshan Art Museum, which were impressive. At the same time, docks, skeleton water towers, tracks, machines, gantry cranes, etc. In these landscapes, people feel retro and nostalgic, and the design layout full of design sense is very suitable for taking pictures, so that you who love taking pictures can shoot literary blockbusters in minutes.

Of course, besides taking photos, you can also savor the design here: the amber water tower on Banyan Island, near the Qijiang River, is made of glass shell and metal frame on the old water tower. The designer thinks it is like an ancient insect solidified in amber, so it is named amber water tower; The skeleton water tower is an old water tower stripped of cement, and the remaining steel bars remain in place. Designers believe that this is like people in the world, regardless of gender, high or low, will eventually belong to a pair of bones. Zhongshan Art Museum is the main building of Qijiang Park. The exterior wall columns are made of lemon yellow cement columns, and the shelves are iron-blue I-steel frames separated by large floor-to-ceiling glass. The whole design is like a factory workshop ... take your time and you will find different things.

Qijiang Park, the whole park is equipped with a fence, cleverly defining the park with streams, so that the park is in harmony with the surrounding environment. It's really comfortable in a place like the city!
