Yangjiatang, Songyang Ancient Village

In Lishui, Zhejiang Province, besides pioneer bookstore, there are many ancient villages with unique landforms that deeply attracted me. This is a long-awaited place. The two places I have to say are Yangjiatang and Shicang.

Yangjiatang is a typical stepped ancient village in Songyang County. It is known as the golden Potala Palace and a holy place for photographers.

Halfway up the mountain, we were stopped by local managers and asked self-driving tourists to park in the designated area. Because the mountain road is narrow and tortuous, you need to take the local tourist CMB for the rest of the journey.

It took about ten minutes before we really came to the entrance of Yangjiatang Village.

Walking into this well-preserved ancient village, I saw three crossed camphor trees. According to the villagers, it was first called Zhangjiatang, and later it was changed to Yangjiatang.

From a distance, dozens of civil structures of Qing Dynasty dwellings extend horizontally along the hillside, and the difference between upper and lower houses is quite high.

My friend chose a suitable place to fly the drone. Through the aerial photography of drones, we can see that the whole village is in a circular ravine, surrounded by towering green hills. A small stream encircles the village from east to west, forming a pattern of jade belt encircling the village.

On the day we came, it happened to be raining lightly, and the whole village was covered with layers of mist under the infiltration of rain, which seemed quiet and vicissitudes. Layers of horse-headed walls and those classical carved beams and painted buildings add a bit of vivid interest to this quaint village.

We stepped on the village roads paved with pebbles of different sizes, shuttled through the patchwork earthen houses, listened to the barking of chickens and dogs in our ears, and watched the streams gurgling under our feet, feeling relaxed and carefree step by step.

It is said that there are not many local villagers still living here, less than forty households. Some houses are vacant, and some have been transformed into modern mountain view homestays.

Walking into those empty courtyards, you can see that almost every courtyard has periodicals and official newspapers. Although it is broken and hard to recognize, it also shows its cultural heritage.

I checked the relevant historical records, "1 Yangjiatang Village is the village head hall. This room is the former residence of Song, who is a student of the Supreme National University. On the wall of Room 6 is a picture of spring, summer, autumn and winter. Zhu Xi's Maxim of Managing the Family and Four Proverbs written by Cheng Zi at the top of the four-room door are well preserved, and the poems on the north and south sides of the two-room courtyard are seven-character ancient poems written by Gan Long. "

From these wall cultures, it is not difficult to see that the ancestors of Yangjiatang attached great importance to cultural education, and they also felt that people also had certain pursuits for life and art at that time. It is precisely because of the emphasis on culture and education that many talents here have been achieved.

Walking around the village, it is difficult to see the local villagers who still live and work here. The rapid development of modern society has also brought profound influence to this remote "Xanadu". I wonder what it will be like to come to this ancient village next time.
