So you'd better have a classmate there to take you in. Xiamen University is beautiful, the environment is good and clean, and the most important thing is very, very quiet! You can go and have a look if you have the conditions.

Gulangyu also has sea and beach, but it is not very clean. I think the cleanest is the sea near Xiamen University. I don't know how to get there by bus.
