The G visa is an "individual travel visa", which has city restrictions. You can enter and exit freely from Hong Kong directly without leaving the country with a group. Only designated residents in China can apply for G visa to go to Hong Kong
L visa is a "group travel visa", which is required to travel out of the country in a group, but must be transferred from Shenzhen or Zhuhai to Hong Kong.
