Taipinggou Scenic Area

In the Qing Dynasty, Taipinggou Scenic Area was the place where Empress Dowager Cixi rouged herself, commonly known as "Rougegou". At that time, Taipinggou and Heihe, Mohe, and Qiganhe further north along the Heilongjiang River were the four major gold factories directly supervised by the Qing government, and the Guandu Gold Factory was the best-run and most famous among them.
