This is the "Pearl of Western Hubei", a stream beside the Yangtze River. Does it feel far away from the world?
The most distinctive Shennong River in Hubei is the first tributary of the Yangtze River after it leaves the Wu Gorge and enters the Xiangxi wide valley. It is called the "Pearl of Western Hubei". Take a cruise and swim in the stream. Both sides of the river are covered with greenery, and there are ancient and mysterious hanging coffins on the cliffs. Drifting leisurely on the clear water and clear waves, in the quiet canyon, with the occasional chirping of birds or the calls of trackers, makes people feel far away from the world.
From the majestic ancient primeval forest, a mysterious stream - Shennong Creek - has flowed continuously for thousands of years. This is a stream full of ancient dreams and historical footprints. The beauty of Shennong Creek is reflected in its originality, simplicity, wildness, no pollution, and no artificial carvings. It is all the creation of nature, beautiful and magical. Shennong River is full of greenery everywhere. The mountains are green and the water is green, as if you can reach it at your fingertips. This golden and emerald-like waterway combines the majesty, danger and beauty of the Three Gorges.
Shennong Creek is a regular flowing stream on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Badong County, Hubei Province. It has the beautiful landscape of Guilin and the cliffs and rocks of Tuer Ridge. It originates from the south of Shennongjia, the first peak in central China. The slope runs through deep mountains and canyons from south to north, with a total length of 60 kilometers. The deep pools and clear water in the gorge, waterfalls everywhere, primitive flat boats, Tujia customs, stalagmite caves, experience the culture of trackers, and explore the magical hanging coffins are all amazing.
In the narrow Mianzhu Gorge, there are various dangerous peaks and cliffs, with caves all over the cliffs and stalactites hanging upside down in the air. There is a narrow skyline, and there are strange peaks and rocks such as "python coming out of the mountain". Walking upstream from the lower reaches, you feel more and more that the air is exceptionally fresh and the gorge is particularly quiet. You can't help but feel as clean as a heart, as if you are far away from the world. Go to the transfer center and change boats to return to Badong Pier via the original waterway. The clear water reflects the green mountains along the coast, and the spirit of nature is everywhere.
The most attractive tourist project is Shennong River rafting. The Wandoujiao boat that tourists take is almost an unmodified relic of the Ba people. It is said that the ancestors of the Ba people migrated westward in such a Wandoujiao boat and established the country of Pakistan. A purely natural way of sightseeing by trackers, the Shennong River trackers are just like the scenery of Shennong Creek, majestic and upright, poetic and picturesque, and their souls are more like the water of Shennong Creek, clear, bright, pure and flawless.
As the first rafting experience in China, the trackers first row against the current and pull the boat full of people to the top of the current, and then automatically drift. It is very exciting, the current is very strong, and the clothes of people on both sides are soaked. There was a tour guide explaining while floating, but if you were sitting at the very back of the boat, you couldn't hear anything clearly. In addition to the sound of turbulent water, you could hear the constant screams of people. Of course both the trackers and the boatmen were wearing clothes.
Due to the Three Gorges Dam, the water level has risen by about 1,780 meters. The entire Badong County was completely submerged. The current Badong County was newly built. Of course, the scenery of Shennong River was also affected to a certain extent. There are only a few famous hanging coffins. Before the Three Gorges Reservoir was impounded, Shennong Creek was an authentic cultural holy land for trackers, where pulling fiber and singing Tujia songs was refreshing. After the reservoir was filled with water, the stream became a wide river, the rapids became a "flat mirror", the mountains became shorter, and the people changed. Tracking is purely a "performance", and singing and dancing are a fixed "mode".
Shennong Creek is a river that originates from Shennongjia. Before the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River was closed, it could only be entered by small wooden boats. Now it can be visited by large boats. It can be used as an option for in-depth tour of the Three Gorges. With the miraculous mountains and crystal clear river water, we learned more about the Shennong River tracker culture. Traveling alone is not actually lonely. You will meet many different people and listen to different stories outside. The scenery on both sides of the Taiwan Strait is particularly beautiful, and it is really a pleasure to chat with everyone!
For thousands of years, agricultural and sideline products, daily necessities and industrial products from the villages on both sides of the Shennong River, as well as people going to the county to do business, have all been transported in and out by Shennong River trackers using Shennong River flat boats. When it comes to crossing the shoal, it depends on the trackers working together to pull the fiber up. The sound of trumpets echoes in the valley, showing the powerful power of the trackers in Shennong River to move mountains and seas. Not only can you enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides of Shennong Creek and experience the fun of fighting against the wind and waves, but it will not cause any pollution to the natural environment of Shennong Creek, forming a good atmosphere where man and nature live in harmony.
Have you heard of Shennong Creek? Do you know where the Pearl of Western Hubei is? The natural scenic spot of Shennong River Scenic Area is charming and is a natural picture poem. It is primitive and simple, without artificial carvings. Shennong River is like an exquisite and unique ornament in the Thousand Miles Gallery of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, adding a gorgeous style to the magnificent Three Gorges.
I went to Shennong Creek when I visited the Three Gorges in the summer 10 years ago. I was on a raft and there were trackers pulling fiber on the shore and singing fiber songs. With the lush mountains on both sides of the bank and the clear stream, it felt great!
