Application example of travel cost method

(1) Determine the relationship between the number of trips and travel expenses: In order to obtain information about the travel departure area (travel distance), travel expenses and other related socio-economic characteristics, visitors should first visit the nature reserve. Then, according to the distance, the departure area of visiting tourists is divided into four areas with increasing travel expenses, and then the total population of each area is determined. This curve is called "Total Experience Curve". It shows the actual payment of tourists who arrive at the reserve.

(2) Determine the consumer surplus: Determine the consumer surplus by gradually increasing the ticket fee. (1) When the entrance fee of the reserve is 0 yuan, the total number of visitors in 1 year is 1200, as shown in Table 1, and point A of the demand curve is obtained. ② Set the admission fee as 1 yuan, and add the admission fee to the travel expenses. Therefore, for tourists in the 1 area, the cost of each trip becomes 2 yuan (travel fee 1 yuan plus admission fee 1 yuan). According to the above functional relationship, new travel rates can be calculated for each region. As shown in Table 2, the number of tourists dropped to 500.
