Xishuangbanna south medicine garden is a national AA-level tourist attraction, located in Jinghong city center, the capital of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province.
Xishuangbanna South Medicinal Garden was founded in 1959. Its predecessor was Yunnan Branch of Institute of Medicinal Plants of China Academy of Medical Sciences. Located in Jinghong City, Yunnan Province, covering an area of more than 320 mu. Mainly engaged in the research on the cultivation and promotion of southern medicine, the protection of tropical medicinal plant resources, and the exploration and utilization of ethnic and folk medicines. It is an important base for the research of medicinal biological resources in southern China. Over the years, I have been committed to the introduction, cultivation and research of medicinal plants and the promotion of related science and technology. After 1999 was awarded as a popular science education base in our province, my work paid more attention to the popularization of science and technology. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, with the care and support of provincial and state science and technology commissions and higher authorities, we have made some achievements and accumulated a lot of experience. At the same time of scientific research, popular science work has also achieved the expected results.
As a provincial popular science education base, Xishuangbanna South Medicine Park covers an area of about 250 mu. In recent years, our hospital has continuously strengthened and improved the construction of popular science base in South Pharmaceutical Park. At present, the construction of Nanyao Garden has completed 12 functional areas, including Medicine Culture Square, Nanyao Secret Land, Herbal Garden, Nanyao Garden, Orchid Garden, Dai Medicine Garden, Rock Plant Area, Lvyin Garden, Areca Garden, Xiu Yuan Garden, Jingyuan Garden and Boat-fruited Sterculia Germplasm Garden. On the basis of previous work, the introduction work has been strengthened in a targeted manner. In recent years, nearly 65,438+0,000 species of medicinal plants have been added, making the number of species collected and preserved in South Medicinal Garden more than 65,438+0,500. The scientific name, family name, habitat, medicinal efficacy and use of each preserved plant are listed, and the display of medicinal plants in South China is strengthened, so that tourists can see the medicinal plants at a glance. Combined with the needs of popular science work, the improvement and construction of popular science facilities have been strengthened. Introduction boards have been set up in various characteristic parks, signs and warning signs have been set up in major tourist routes, and leisure tables and chairs have been set up in different places in the park for tourists to rest, greatly improving the popular science facilities and tourism environment.
At present, more than 500 kinds of medicinal plants 1500 have been introduced and collected in the park, including more than 30 kinds of precious southern medicines, such as Amomum villosum, boat-fruited Sterculia, cardamom, sandalwood, dragon's blood, catechu, cinnamon and cinchona. More than 10000 specimens of medicinal plants have been preserved, and it has the largest germplasm resource bank of Sterculia sterculia, Semen Strychni and Rauvolfia vomitoria in China, more than 300 kinds of native orchids, and important southern medicines such as Aquilaria sinensis and Indian rosewood with the longest artificial planting years in China.
