The Fengguo Temple in Yixian County (commonly known as the Big Buddha Temple) was built in the ninth year of Kaitai in Liao Dynasty. This is a royal temple, built by Lu Ye Longxu, the holy emperor who claimed to be the reincarnation of Sakyamuni in Liao Dynasty, and located in the hometown of his mother Xiao Taihou. Fengguo Temple is an ancient temple with historical, scientific, cultural and artistic values, such as ancient architecture, painting, archaeology and Buddhism. It is still well preserved, including many cultural relics left by the gate, archway, Xigong Temple, Bell Tower, Monument Pavilion, Infinite Hall in Ming Dynasty and Daxiong Hall in Liao Dynasty.

In addition to opening to the outside world, Fengguo Temple has other cultural relics such as ancient temples, as well as cultural exhibitions of Qidan in Liao Dynasty, cultural relics unearthed in Yixian, and "Wu Kang" painting and calligraphy exhibition. As a tourist attraction, Fengguo Temple has been rated as "300 Famous Scenic Spots in China", "Top Ten Scenic Spots in Jinzhou" and "Patriotism Education Base in Jinzhou".

Whenever the first, fifteenth and eighth day of April of the lunar calendar, such as Sakyamuni's Christmas, tourists come to Fengguo Temple in an endless stream. Temple fairs in the first month of the Spring Festival every year are very lively and become famous tourism products in the three northeastern provinces.
