Sunshine Coast ~ Vancouver’s back garden

The Sunshine Coast is located at the northwest end of Vancouver, with an average of more than 200 days of sunshine per year, making it the sunniest place in Vancouver.

You can take a ferry from Horseshoe Bay in Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast. If the weather is fine, be sure to sit on the top deck. The scenery on both sides is very suitable for taking pictures. The journey takes forty minutes, and cars can accompany you for a fee.

The Sunshine Coast stretches 180 kilometers (110 miles) along the land and is home to some of the world's best canoeing, fishing, diving, cycling and hiking locations. All of the Sunshine Coast's natural wonders are located just off Sunshine Coast Highway 101. There are many small towns on the coast. Passengers without cars can take buses to many small towns on the coast for 2.75 Canadian dollars per person. Of course, the most ideal thing is to travel by car.

In mid-June, we came to Vancouver’s Sunshine Coast for four days to relax ourselves.

Our temporary home

? The Sunshine Coast in June has blue sky and blue sea, dotted islands and chic huts embedded in it. The scenery is fresh, quiet, warm and full of comfort. The aesthetic feeling. Like most Canadians, after half a busy year, we choose summer to go to the beach, sunbathe our feet and relax.

The Sunshine Coast includes several small towns, including Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Davis Bay, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay ), Pender Harbor, Secret Cove, Egmont, Powell River, Lund, Savary Island and Tezeda Island (Texada Island) community. Along the coast, there are tranquil beaches, cedar forests, hiking trails, summer villas and artists' colonies.

Gibsons

In comparison, Gibsons is a larger city. It has a gorgeous waterfront and many dining options. The town is famous for hosting the 1970s TV show Beachcombers. Today, this Sunshine Coast BC town also hosts many music and art events each year. There is also a nice hike up Soames Hill with beautiful views. In the evening, there were staff filming a movie, and the beach was cleared to prevent photography. So, we had a delicious Mexican dinner on Gibson’s waterfront in front of the stunning scenery.

Particularly worth recommending is a microbrewery just steps away from the Gibson Museum of Art. The terrace on the second floor has unparalleled sea views. The beer was very light and refreshing. Small snacks are also great.

Roberts Creek

The Roberts Creek Marina stretches out to the Pacific Ocean. The scenery here is very impressive. Large numbers of seagulls, ducks and herons in their natural habitat. Great photo opportunity.

Gumboots Restaurant is located in Roberts Creek and is a very popular venue. Best to get there early as it's usually reserved. The food is delicious, mainly local organic ingredients, well prepared and presented. They also cater for vegans and gluten-free diets. They have a quiet beautiful setting with a lovely patio for outdoor dining and great ambience. We had a wonderful lunch there. My eyes and stomach were greatly satisfied.

The town is really small, with only four stores: a restaurant, a grocery store, a coffee shop, and an ice cream shop. The most popular one is definitely the ice cream shop.

Sechelt

Sechelt has a variety of bars, cafés, restaurants and spas. It even has a movie theater, the Golden Arches and other famous haunts, and the waterfront is home to many beautiful houses and piers. Sechelt Inlet offers water sports such as kayaking and paddle boarding.
