Items needed for hiking and camping on Mount Everest

Mount Everest is very cold. Before going there, you must not only be physically prepared, but also do some physical exercise. Then, before you come, it is very necessary to have a physical examination, and then you should prepare some food and compressed biscuits. It goes without saying that you should bring all your valid documents.

Camping preparations

There are local Tibetan tents at Everest Base Camp for accommodation. However, due to the high altitude of the Everest Base Camp, you need to make the following preparations:

A. You can prepare your own sleeping bag in case the tent conditions at the base camp are not very good.

B. Prepare some cold-proof thickened down jackets, because the temperature difference between day and night will be large, in case you catch a cold and get sick.

C. Prepare oxygen tanks to prevent high reactions; prepare enough dry food and drinking water.

D. Go to bed at night and be prepared to protect yourself from wind and cold.

If you don’t want to live in a tent at the base camp, you can also pitch your own tent by Yanghu Lake. But if you must make the above preparations, it is recommended that you stay in a local Tibetan home or hotel.

Hiking preparation

For first-time hikers, it is recommended to make the following preparations:

A. Physical preparation:

A. Get a physical exam and exercise to see if you are suitable for hiking.

B. Learn outdoor hiking knowledge and wild life-saving knowledge in advance to prevent various emergencies during hiking.

C. Have team spirit, cooperate with fellow travelers, and divide labor reasonably.

B. Material preparation:

A. Map: Plan your hiking itinerary in advance and prepare hiking routes and maps (make backup copies).

B. Clothing: Waterproof and breathable emergency clothing is a must. Don't wear jeans as sweat and rain can affect your body movements. Prepare cold-proof clothing. Choose shoes that are wear-resistant, waterproof, and breathable, and prepare the shoes you need according to your hiking needs.

Food: You can bring some food that can replenish energy and not take up space, such as compressed biscuits, chocolate, beef jerky, etc. Drink enough 3 liters of water every day. It is not recommended to drink wild raw water directly.

Accommodation: Prepare sleeping bags, tents and other outdoor equipment.

Others: sunglasses, hats, and sweat-wicking underwear can be selected according to the situation.

: Necessary medicines:

1. Anti-cold and antipyretic drugs such as Day and Night Baifuning, Su-acting Cold Capsules;

2. Take Rhodiola rosea in advance , Nuodikang and other anti-altitude reaction products (the antipsychotic effect of aminophylline is very significant);

3. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs, such as azithromycin, roxithromycin, and amoxicillin;

4. Fenbid, Pilitone or Headache Powder (Touhou Powder is more effective in relieving high-anti-resistance headaches);

5. Band-Aids, bandages, and antidiarrheal drugs.

6. Oxygen bottles, oxygen bags, portable oxygen bottles.

7. Suxiao Jiuxin Pills can be taken in emergency situations of altitude sickness.

Plastic bag; Swiss Army knife (or other utility knife); lighter, flashlight or headlamp (for night rescue and vehicle maintenance lighting); insulated kettle, chopsticks , lunch boxes; toilet paper, wet wipes, towels; cash (one yuan extra change can be donated at the temple); credit card (the most convenient ones in the Tibet Autonomous Region are Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China).
