Where is Taiwan Province Province on the map?
The Taiwan Province Strait runs northeast-southwest, connecting the East China Sea of China in the north and the South China Sea in the south. The distance between Northeast China and Ryukyu Islands in Japan is about 600 kilometers. The Taiwan Province Strait does not exceed 400 kilometers from east to west, and its narrowest point is about 130 kilometers. It is an important maritime traffic artery in China and even in the world.
The westernmost point of Taiwan Province Island is located at the western end of Huayu in Wang 'an Township, Penghu County (east longitude118 minutes and 03 seconds), the easternmost point is located at the eastern end of chiwei yu in Yilan County (east longitude 124 degrees and 34 minutes and 30 seconds), and the southernmost point is located at the southern end of Qixingyan in Hengchun Town, Pingtung County (260).
Oshima province
Taiwan Province Province is a multi-island province, including the main island of Taiwan Province Province, 2 1 subsidiary islands such as Lan Yu Island, Green Island and Diaoyu Island, and 63 islands of Penghu Islands. Taiwan Province Island is spindle-shaped, with a length of about 394 kilometers from north to south, a maximum width of 144 kilometers from east to west, and a total island area of 35,873 square kilometers. At present, the so-called Taiwan Province Province includes Taiwan Province Province itself and Fujian Jinmen, Mazu and other islands controlled by the authorities of Taiwan Province Province, with a total area of about 36,006 square kilometers.
Penghu islands. Also known as Penghu Islands, it is located between Taiwan Province Strait, Taiwan Province Island and Fujian Province, with the nearest distance of 24 nautical miles to Taiwan Province Island in the east and about 75 nautical miles to Xiamen, Fujian Province in the west. As a transportation hub on both sides of the Taiwan Province Strait, its geographical position is very important, so it has the title of "the key to the Taiwan Province Strait". Penghu Islands consists of Penghu Island and 63 islands, covering an area of 126 square kilometers. Penghu Islands used to be a huge basalt square mountain. After a long period of erosion, the ground bed gradually decreased, and then the template sank, forming today's Penghu Islands, with many discrete islands.
Lan Yu. Formerly known as Hongtouyu, it is located in the Pacific Ocean in the southeast of Taitung County. It was renamed Lan Yu because it is rich in precious Phalaenopsis, with an area of 44.7 square kilometers. It is a volcanic island formed by submarine volcanic eruption and uplift, and it is the largest island in Taiwan Province Province. Now it is Lan Yu Township under the jurisdiction of Taitung County, which is about 4 1 nautical mile away from Taitung City. The island is picturesque with green mountains and green waters, blue sea and blue sky. The island is the ancestral home of the Yami people, with four natural villages where six tribes and other Han people live.
Green Island. Formerly known as Huoshao Island, it is said that it was named after Yamakaji on the island was flushed with sunlight. Later, because the name of Huoshao Island gave people the illusion that nothing grows, it was renamed Green Island in 1949. The island is located in the Pacific Ocean, about 18 nautical miles from Taitung City, with an area of 15 square kilometers. Now it is a green island under the jurisdiction of Taitung County. The island is also a volcanic island, similar in shape to Lan Yu, with an equilateral quadrangle, so some people call it the "sister island" with Lan Yu. The hills on the island are undulating, the western part is relatively flat, and the hilly platform accounts for more than 70% of the whole island area. The population of the island is about 3000, and there are three villages, all of which are Han nationality.
Ryukyu island. Also known as Little Ryukyu, it is located in the south of Xiadanshui Estuary in the south of Taiwan Province Province, standing in the Taiwan Province Strait, about 8 nautical miles southwest of Donggang Town in Pingtung County, about 18 nautical miles from Kaohsiung City, about 4 kilometers long from north to south, about 2 kilometers wide from east to west, with an area of 6.8 square kilometers. Because it looks like a ball floating on the sea, it is named Ryukyu Island. Ryukyu Island is a uplift ridge composed of coral reefs, and the whole island is cut by two linear trenches. The island is now a township under the jurisdiction of Pingdong County, with a population of about10.5 million, and more than 90% are engaged in fishing.
A mountainous island
Taiwan Province Province is a mountainous island, the mountainous area accounts for two thirds of the total area of the island, and most of the eastern and central parts are mountains and hills. The Central Mountain Range, Snow Mountain Range, Wangshan Mountain Range, Alishan Mountain Range and Coastal Mountain Range, like dragons, meander from northeast to southwest on the island of Taiwan Province Province, collectively known as Taiwan Province Mountain Range. There are 22 peaks above 3500 meters above sea level and 62 peaks above 3000 meters above sea level.
The mountains in Taiwan Province Province are parallel to the northeast-southwest trend of Taiwan Province Island and run through the middle, forming a terrain with high middle and low sides. The mountains are mostly concentrated in the eastern part of the central part, forming mountains in the eastern part, and the terrain in the central and western parts is declining, eventually forming a vast coastal plain in the western coast.
The central mountain ranges from near Suao in the north to the southern tip of Taiwan Province Province in the south. It runs through the north-south center of Taiwan Province Island and becomes the backbone and watershed of the whole island. It is called "the roof of Taiwan Province Province", which divides the whole island of Taiwan Province Province into two asymmetrical parts: the east, the small part and the west part. The central mountain range is 270 kilometers long and 80 kilometers wide.
Yushan Mountain is located in the south and southwest of Xueshan Mountain, with its northern end adjacent to Xueshan Mountain, spanning the upper reaches of Zhuoshui River and its southern end reaching the northern part of Pingtung Plain, with a total length of about120km. The main peak of Yushan Mountain is 3997 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in the whole island and the eastern part of the mainland. The top of Yushan Mountain is covered with snow all year round, as white as jade, so it is called "Yushan".
Xueshan mountain range, also known as subalpine mountain range, is located in the northwest of the central mountain range, with a total length of 180 km, and its main peak is 3884 meters above sea level, making it the second highest peak in Taiwan Province Province. The Ali Mountains are the westernmost mountains in Taiwan Province Province, while the coastal mountains are the easternmost mountains in Taiwan Province Province. In addition, there is a self-contained Datun Volcano Group at the northern end of Taiwan Province Island, which consists of more than 10 conical volcanic bodies.
The mountains in Taiwan Province Province are magnificent, with more than 50 peaks above 3,500 meters above sea level and as many as 200 peaks above 3,000 meters above sea level. Among them, Yushan (the first peak in Taiwan Province Province), Xueshan (the second peak in Taiwan Province Province), Xiugu Luanshan (the first peak in the central mountain range), Nanhu Mountain (the highest peak at the northern end of the central mountain range) and Fog Mountain (the highest peak at the southern end of the central mountain range) are collectively called "Five Mountains in Taiwan Province Province".
Taiwan Province Island is mountainous.
Hills and plateaus are distributed in the foothills where the five mountain systems and plains transition, from the periphery of Taibei Basin to the peninsula, with an altitude of about 600 meters, accounting for less than a quarter of the total island area of Taiwan Province Province. There are mainly four hills, namely, Bamboo Nanshan in Keelung, Chiayi Mountain, Fengyuan Mountain and Hengchun Mountain, among which Bamboo Nanshan in Keelung is the largest hill in Taiwan Province Province. The southern hills of Keelung Bamboo, starting from the coast near Keelung in the north, reaching the Fengyuan area in Taichung in the south, the northern and western foothills of Snow Mountain in the east and the western coast of Taiwan Province Island in the west, are composed of Keelung Hills, Hsinchu Hills, Miaoli Hills and Southern Hills, and are the largest hilly areas in Taiwan Province Province. Chiayi Mountain is located in front of the Ali Mountains, starting from the south bank of turbid water creek in the north and reaching Kaohsiung and Pingtung in the south. This is a hill below 250 meters above sea level. Fengyuan Mountain is located between the above two hilly areas. Fengyuan passes through Taichung in the west of Nantou Line, which is the widest place in the western hilly area. It is semicircular from east to west, extending between the Snow Mountain Range, Yushan Mountain Range and Alishan Mountain Range. It is the most special terrain area in the middle of Taiwan Province Island. Hengchun Mountain is located on the peninsula. The central mountain range becomes a gentle north-south anticline, and the mountain gradually descends to both sides, and the west is connected with Pingtung Plain.
In addition to the hills, there are some relatively low-lying platforms scattered from the northern part of Taiwan Province Island to the west side of the central hills. From north to south, there are mainly platforms such as Linkou, Taoyuan, Zhongli, Hukou, Hou Li, Dadu and Bagua, all of which are below 400 meters above sea level.
Plain and basin
The plains and basins in Taiwan Province Province are few in number and small in area, accounting for only one fifth of the total island area. The main plains are Jianan Plain, Pingtung Plain, Yilan Plain and Taitung Longitudinal Valley Plain. Jianan Plain, also known as Tainan Plain, starts from the south bank of Zhuoshui River in Changhua County in the north and reaches the west bank of Xiadanshui River in Kaohsiung County in the south, covering an area of about 4,450 square kilometers. It is the largest plain in Taiwan Province Province. Pingtung Plain is located in the south of Taiwan Province Island, with an area of 1 160 square kilometers, and is the second largest plain in Taiwan Province Province. Yilan Plain, also known as Yanglan Plain, is located in the northeast of Taiwan Province Island, covering an area of about 320 square kilometers. It is the earliest developed area in the east of Taiwan Province Province. Taitung longitudinal valley plain is located between the central mountain range and the coastal mountain range, covering an area of about 700 square kilometers. In addition, there are some smaller plains along the northern coast of Taiwan Province Island, mainly including Hsinchu alluvial plain, Miaoli alluvial plain and Changhua plain.
The basins in Taiwan Province Province are smaller and fewer than those on the plain. The main basins are Taibei Basin, Taichung Basin and Puli Basin Group. Taibei Basin is located in the north of Taiwan Province Island, surrounded by hills formed by snow-capped mountains on both sides in the southeast, with Datun Volcano Group as the barrier in the north and Guanyin Mountain and Linkou Platform in the south of Keelung Bamboo Mountain in the west. The basin has a complete shape, covering an area of about 240 square kilometers, second only to Taichung Basin, and it is the earliest place in northern Taiwan Province Province. Taichung Basin is located in the middle of Taiwan Province Island, starting from Da 'anxi in the north, turbid water creek in the south, Fengyuan Fault from Wufeng to Caotun in the east, and Dadu Platform and Bagua Platform in the west. Covering an area of 400 square kilometers, it is the largest basin in Taiwan Province Province. Puli basin is located in the Puli subsidence area of the central mountain range, between the middle reaches of Zhuoshui River and the upper reaches of Dadu River and Beigang River in Nantou County. There are more than a dozen subsidence basins of different sizes, facing each other and surrounded by mountains. They are collectively called Puli Basin Group. Among them, Puli basin has the largest area, about 42 square kilometers; Yuchi basin is the second, with an area of about 2 1 km2.
Although the plains and basins in Taiwan Province Province are limited in area, they have always been the most important agricultural and residential areas in Taiwan Province Province, and also the most economically developed areas. About 95% of the large, medium and small cities in the province are concentrated in plains and basins.
Coasts of various shapes
Taiwan Province Province is an island province with many islands and a long coastline. The coastline of Taiwan Province Island is 1566 km long, including four different coasts: east, north, west and south. The eastern fault coast starts from Laibi, Sandaojiao, Taibei County in the northeast corner of Taiwan Province Island, and extends southward, passing through Yilan, Hualien and Taitung to Jiupeng, Pingtung, with a total length of 380 kilometers. The whole coast is roughly flat, close to the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the coastal edge of Yilan Plain, Hualien Plain and Taitung Plain have the characteristics of coastal uplift, most of which are close to the coast due to faults, and * * * is composed of four fault coasts, which are typical fault coasts.
On the northern coast, it starts from Youchekou on the north bank of Danshui Estuary in the northwest corner of Taiwan Province Island in the west, passes through Fuguijiao in the north and comes to Laisai Wall in Sanjiaojiao in the east, with a total length of about 85 kilometers. The northern coast is adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in the east, the East China Sea in the north and the Taiwan Province Strait in the west, which is a uplift coast. The northern coastal area is a standard marine erosion landform, with rugged coastline, headland bay and rugged rocks, which is of great tourist and ornamental value.
The western coast starts from the south bank of Danshui Estuary in the north and extends to Fangliao in the west of Pingtung County in the south, with a total length of about 4 10 km, which is close to the Taiwan Province Strait and is a sedimentary uplift coast. Compared with the eastern coast, the western coast faces the shallow sea and connects the coastal plain, so the whole coast is monotonous and flat, and the terrain is gentle and inclined. Under the action of wind direction, wind force and tide, it causes strong accumulation, the beach is long and the coast continues to extend to the west.
The southern coast, from Fangliao, Pingtung, to the south, passes through Maotoubi and Guluanbi at the southern end of Taiwan Province Island, then turns to Jiupeng in the north, bordering the Taiwan Province Strait in the west, the South China Sea in the south and the Pacific Ocean in the east, with a total length of 264 kilometers. It is a typical coral reef coast.
