Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759- 1840)

Born in a painter's family in Saint Hubert, France. At the age of 23, he became a student and assistant of the famous flower painter Gerald Van Spandonk (1746- 1822) who worked in the National Museum of Natural History. He also studied under his brother Abraham Dorval and later under the botanist Charles Louis Egitier de Broudeur (1746). This knowledge of botany enables Redudd to endow his paintings with strict academic and realism. He lived in Luxembourg from 65438 to 0777, and later settled in France. 1788, Ray Dodd was appointed as a painter in the showroom of Queen Marie Antoinette. 1825, Charles X appointed him a knight. The publication of most of his books is sponsored by the royal family. 1830 became a full-time painter of the new French queen Marie-Emily (1782- 1866) after the July Revolution. After the French Revolution, under the protection of Josephine, the princess of Napoleon I, as a court painter, he was compared to "Raphael in Flowers" and "Rose Painter" by nobles and upper-class people, and his fame was extremely high. One of his students, Louise Marie Orleans, became the first queen of Belgium in 1832. During the French Revolution, Queen Josephine of France built a magnificent rose garden in the Mel Mei Sen Building on the outskirts of Paris. It is said that there are 30,000 roses planted in her rose garden, including almost precious varieties from all over the world. Her gardener was also the first person in history to try to cultivate roses artificially. Out of respect for her love of roses, during the naval battle between Britain and France, the two countries stopped fighting for the passage of ships carrying roses to Josephine. Josephine invited Redudd to draw roses in the rose garden, and this album called "Rose Bible" was born. Redudder himself was compared to "Raphael of Flowers" and "Painter of Roses" by aristocrats and upper-class people, and became famous for a while. Compared with several contemporary painters, Reddud's works are more scientific and beautiful, with different flowers, elegant colors and natural colors. The three most popular paintings in Red Capital are Lily, Rose and Beautiful Flowers, among which Rose is the most famous. There are 169 kinds of lovely roses in the book, which have become the classics of roses in the world. Romantic roses come from the least romantic labor. In the west, many decorative paintings, porcelain and other objects have chosen Redudd's rose picture. Reddud created nearly 50 botanical works in his life. 1died on June 20th, 840, and was buried in Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
