Visa:
First-time applicants must apply according to the following steps
The first step: determine the scope of the territory where you live.
The US Consulate General in Guangzhou serves the residents of Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong and Fujian provinces. If you don't live in the above four provinces, you should apply to the US Embassy in Beijing or the consulates in Shenyang, Shanghai or Chengdu.
Step 2: Pay the non-immigrant visa application fee.
Non-immigrant visa applicants must pay the visa application fee at CITIC Industrial Bank. Please note that this fee is non-refundable. The applicant will get a receipt after paying the fee. Please give this receipt together with other visa materials to the visa officer during the interview. For questions about visa application fee and payment procedure, please contact CITIC Industrial Bank.
Step 3: Prepare the necessary materials.
All applicants must submit the following documents:
Passports must be valid for nine months longer than the expected arrival time in the United States.
A complete set of DS- 156 and DS- 157 application forms, each with a recent US passport photo. Applicants can get the DS- 156 and DS- 157 application forms free of charge at China CITIC Bank during normal working hours.
Receipt of application fee issued by CITIC Industrial Bank.
Important Note: Applicants should also bring relevant documents that can prove that you have close family, work and economic ties in China, such as bank passbook, housing or land contract, family photos, marriage certificate, birth certificate, business card or letters from employers. Prove to the asking consul that you will return to China after a short stay in the United States. However, we did not specify what materials the applicant should bring. You can bring any documents that you think can convince the consul that you will return to China.
Other materials to be carried:
Applicants for business visas (B 1) should bring detailed invitations and related business documents issued by the inviting party in the United States, such as faxes, bills of lading, contracts, catalogues, purchase agreements and other documents that can reflect the real business purpose of going to the United States.
Applicants for tourist visas (B2) should provide documents that can prove that they are able to pay the expenses required during their stay in the United States (or that the inviter is able to bear the expenses). If you want to visit your relatives, please bring documents that can prove your kinship.
Applicants for studying abroad visa (F 1) must bring a complete I-20 form, recent school transcripts, academic credentials, GRE/TOFEL scores and documents proving their ability to pay tuition and other expenses for the first academic year in the United States. At the same time, please make sure that American schools have entered their names into the Student and Exchange Scholar Information System (SEVIS).
Applicants for visiting scholar visa (J 1) must bring complete DS-20 19 form, proof of financial ability, and current employment certificate and scholarship certificate. At the same time, please make sure that American schools have entered their names into the Student and Exchange Scholar Information System (SEVIS).
Applicants for transit visas (C 1) must provide documents that can prove the purpose of continuing to a third country after transit.
Applicants for temporary work visa (H 1) must carry the I-797 approval letter. In addition, class H applicants are required to provide proof of work experience and a copy of application document I- 129 submitted by American employers.
Applicants for employee transfer visas (L 1 and L2) please click here for more information.
Family applicants (F2, J2 and H4) must bring proof of their relationship with the main applicant, proof of the legal status of the main applicant in the United States (I-20 form, DS-20 19 form or a copy of the approval letter of I-797, and a copy of their visa), and economic proof that they are able to pay the fees during their stay in the United States. Applicants for F2 and J2, please make sure that your name has been entered into the Student and Exchange Scholar Information System (SEVIS) by American schools.
Step 4: Call the Visa Information Call Center at 4008-872-333 (users in Chinese mainland) or 86-21-3881-461(users outside Chinese mainland) * to make an appointment for an interview.
The State Council suggested that international users should be responsible for paying international long-distance telephone charges. The current situation shows that international users have to wait a long time to connect with operators.
The applicant who is refused a visa should explain this to the staff who answered the appointment call. Concealing the fact that you have been refused a visa is likely to make you lose your chance to get a visa.
If you need to apply for an expedited interview time, please fax it directly to the non-immigration department of the US Consulate General in Guangzhou (86-20-3884-4424). Generally speaking, urgent applications based on humanitarian reasons or emergency medical conditions will be approved.
Step 5: Interview.
When you arrive at the consulate, you will have the opportunity to explain why you went to the United States and show your documents. It is important to answer consular questions truthfully. Many applicants often miss the opportunity to get a visa because they conceal the true information about their income, work or family status, even if the true information will not have any negative impact on their application. Applicants should not submit forged documents, such as fake invitations, company licenses or ID cards. The applicant's lying and providing false documents is a serious violation of the consul and will lead to the applicant's permanent disqualification from going to the United States.
