Rural style collection——Pangou, Lijie, Runcheng Town

September 5, 2020

Pangou, Lijie Village, Runcheng Town, was once a small villa with a prosperous population, with 60 households and a population of more than 160 . Since 2009, people have begun to move to Jishui New City. After another ten years, the people here are gone.

Jishui New Town is a newly built standardized new rural area. Livable communities allow these farmers, who have faced the loess and turned their backs to the sky for generations, to live a new life like modern urbanites. The people of Pangou, Li Street, have caught up with the best of times and lived a happy life.

According to people's habitual thinking: Pangou is empty, the buildings are empty, the houses are down, and the grass is growing. It should be an empty village.

On this day, accompanied by Bruce Lee, secretary of the Li Street branch, I walked into Pangou under construction. What's going on here makes my eyes light up.

I admire the strategic vision of the town and village leaders very much. They will use 100 million to rebuild this little-known small villa. In a very simple sentence, they can express the work they are currently focusing on: building a high-end B&B.

This long-term measure that will benefit future generations conforms to the development requirements of the county’s overall pattern of “a leisurely Yangcheng, a health resort” and will play an important role in rural revitalization.

In the development line of Yangcheng Grand Tourism, Pangou will become a bright spot, with the Imperial City Prime Minister's Mansion in front and the Sandu Ancient City behind.

The row of green brick houses in front of me, built with lime mortar, are magnificent imitations of the ancient cave dwellings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which have begun to take shape. Secretary Bruce Lee said: All construction of the project must strictly follow the principle of restoring the old as before, and it is now being stepped up.

We walked into the Sanheyuan and also came to the Siheyuan. These fully restored courtyards have already demonstrated their charm. Especially the wooden windows, wood carvings on the building poles and the exquisite brick carvings on the screen walls all tell the story of the extraordinaryness of this place.

Secretary Li said: After opening to the outside world, these courtyards where tourists live have chess and card rooms, tea rooms, kitchens, and complete household facilities. The entire village has all the food, accommodation, transportation and entertainment. There are 200 acres of white peony orchards and 50 acres of yellow peach orchards on the mountain. All kinds of fruit trees are all over the mountains and plains. Visitors can visit, pick and cultivate. There are flowers here in three seasons and fruits in four seasons, allowing noisy and busy city people to come here to experience farm leisure. A leisurely pastoral life.

Secretary Li said: There are five residential courtyards in Zhuangshang ***, three of which have been renovated and are planned to be put into trial operation at the end of the year.

There are two temples on the village, one is Tangdi Temple and the other is Guandi Temple. I walked into the Guandi Temple. The main hall of the temple is dedicated to the martial saint Guandi. Opposite the main hall is the stage. There are eight stone tablets in the temple, among which the "Inscription on the Creation and Construction of the Worship Hall" was written by Zhang Dunren, a famous sinologist, mathematician and Yangcheng person. The main buildings in the temple are magnificent, and the brick, wood and stone carvings are full of ingenuity and exquisite craftsmanship. Especially the Bagua caisson in the worship hall is of outstanding craftsmanship and can be called an art treasure. The most amazing thing is the murals in the main hall. Although these murals have gone through hundreds of years of ups and downs, the faintly discernible and magnificent paintings are amazing. It is a great blessing for the people of Pangou that this temple, which was built in the seventh year of Qi tomorrow, can still survive to this day.

Among all the temples I have seen in Yangcheng, this is the most complete one. This is our unique wealth.

When I was about to leave Pangou, I met the 66-year-old Pan Youming. This old man was born and raised in this hot land and never thought of leaving here. In 1992, he built a total of 18 brick houses with upstairs and downstairs on three-thirds of the homestead. These are the efforts of several generations of him and his fathers and his life. Now that his whole family has moved away and the four acres of land he cultivated has been transferred for 350 yuan per year, there is no need for him to come back here.

Although he still occupies a few rooms in the courtyard he built, the ownership of these rooms has become the collective property of the village.

Since 2017, the village committee has handed over the safety and quality supervision of Pangou project construction to Pan Youming. He cherishes this job very much and sticks to the construction site every day, fulfilling this responsibility seriously. He knows very well that if you do the present well, you will be responsible for the future.

All the efforts of him and the villagers are to make Pangou's tomorrow better...
