What does 5a scenic spot mean?
5a scenic spots means: China’s world-class tourist scenic spots.
National AAAAA-level tourist attractions, also known as 5A-level scenic spots, are the levels of scenic spots classified by the People's Republic of China and the country's quality level of tourist attractions. They are divided into five levels, from high to low, AAAAA , AAAA, AAA, AA, A level five.
The 5A level is the highest level of tourist attractions in China, representing the level of China's world-class tourist attractions.
On May 22, 2007, the National Tourism Administration issued a notice on its official website. After on-site inspection and acceptance by the local assessment team appointed by the National Tourism Attractions Quality Rating Committee, the National Tourism Attractions Quality Rating Committee reviewed and approved. It was decided to approve 66 scenic spots including the Palace Museum in Beijing as national 5A tourist attractions. The number of pilot units recommended by provincial tourist attraction assessment agencies to the National Tourism Administration for the establishment of 5A tourist attractions within the specified period reached 106. In the final evaluation, 66 units became national AAAAA tourist attractions.
According to the official website inquiry system of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on September 15, 2022, there are 318 5A scenic spots nationwide.
Requirements for 5A scenic spots
The visitor center should be reasonably located, moderate in scale, complete in facilities, and fully functional. The consulting service personnel are fully equipped, skilled in business and enthusiastic in service. Various guidance signs (including tour guide panoramas, navigation maps, signboards, scenery introduction boards, etc.) have outstanding styling features, strong artistic and cultural atmosphere, and can set off the overall environment. Signboards and scenery introduction boards are set up reasonably.
Public information materials (such as research works, popular science books, comprehensive picture albums, audio-visual products, guide maps and guide materials, etc.) have outstanding features, complete varieties, rich content, beautiful text, exquisite production, and timely updates.
Tour guides (docents) are certified and their number and language can meet the needs of tourists. The compliance rate for Mandarin is 100%. Tour guides (commentators) should all have a college degree or above, of which no less than 30% should have a bachelor's degree or above.
