Wuqiu Rally

Text/Xueer

My natal family is in Wuqiu.

Wuqiu Township is located in the northeast of today's Henan Province, across the Yellow River from Shandong. Its original name is Qiutou. It was renamed Wuqiu by Sima Yiping and Zhuge Dan in the late Wei Dynasty. In the fifth year of Taihe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (370), Huan Wen sent Zhu Yao to defeat the former Yan army here.

Wuqiu Township has outstanding people, beautiful bells, long history, rich cultural heritage, thousands of acres of the Yellow River, rich forestry resources, along with the mighty Yellow River, the Changdong Railway Bridge that runs through the entire territory, the ancient It is pregnant with the atmosphere of modern civilization and has great development value for eco-tourism.

In Wuqiu Township, about 50 kilometers northeast of present-day Changyuan County, there are more than 20 villages. My family lives in Wuqiu Jishang.

Wuqiu has six major performances every month, and later added three small collections. There is also an annual ancient gathering on the eighth day of April to celebrate the birth of the Buddhist Sakyamuni. Every year, major operas are sung. , having fun and having fun, very lively. Every ancient gathering, villagers would invite their relatives and friends to attend the gathering, and they would also do some small business in conjunction with the gathering, such as selling cold skins, fruits, toys, etc., not to make money, but just to collect some money. lively. During the Wuqiu rally, they gathered together on a street in front of the township government. To the north of the street was the famous department store, which had everything from clothing, cloth, daily chemicals, toys, hardware and home appliances, etc. The stalls on the east and west sides of the street mainly sell vegetables. On the south side of the street, there is a place specializing in selling clothes, shoes and hats. The stands made of bricks support long cement boards, arranged in rows and in an orderly manner. One or two cement boards make a stall. Children's clothing, men's and women's clothing, as well as children's shoes and adult footwear are sold in separate places. It's fun to gather a few friends and enter this open-air clothing supermarket to walk around, look around, try on clothes, shoes, and bargain. Think about it now, you can do online shopping on your mobile phone and computer without leaving home. It is indeed very convenient, but it lacks the fun of going to the market and shopping.

Eighteen years ago, my mother planted thousands of kilograms of mushrooms. After the mushrooms grew, during the gathering, my mother cut the mushrooms in the morning and put them in two plutonium baskets. My sister and I took two stalks. Hook said she was responsible for selling at the market. I was on the east side of the street and she was on the west side of the street. Standing in the market in the dead of winter, my hands and face were red from the cold, and there was no warmth in my body. After selling mushrooms at noon, I happily went home carrying a plutonium basket. Afterwards, I changed my clothes, dressed up, and invited some of my best friends to go to the market. Going from East Street to West Street, from Nandian to North Store, I miss it so much!

Later, Wuqiu Street was to be renovated, and the department store was demolished and rebuilt. The place selling clothes and shoes was also planned to be built into a house, and their stalls were moved to the street south of Wuqiu. They are all housing, and there are only two rows of stalls in the north and south, with only a four- to five-meter-wide road left in the middle. It is a thousand meters from Southeast Street to Southwest Street in Wuqiu. When going to the market and during the general meeting, it is crowded with people. It seems that since then, I have gone to the market much less often. Ten years ago, two large supermarkets were built on Wuqiuji: Huayu Department Store and Hualian Supermarket. People are full of novelty. Thinking about the past, if you wanted to go to the supermarket, you could only go to the county town. Now that the supermarket is opening at your doorstep, how can you not go and support it! Gradually, fewer people were doing business on the market, and the flow of people on the long street to the south was greatly reduced.

Nowadays, people have become accustomed to online shopping. Shopping in supermarkets is convenient and fast, and the products are all available. The food is hygienic. It is no better than eating some fast food on the street, and it is not as good as eating in the windy and sandy weather. Sizzling. Even if there is another gathering in Wuqiu now, there won't be too many people on the street. It used to be impenetrable but now it is smooth.

Society is developing, hometown is progressing, and people’s ideas are also changing. Due to the epidemic this year, the government issued a notice that all conferences and small gatherings must be cancelled, crowds cannot gather, and masks must be worn when going out and shopping in supermarkets. The Kitchen Sacrifice Festival on the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month is the largest festival in the twelfth lunar month. This year, it is prohibited to set up stalls to sell things. The streets are deserted. Occasionally, there are a few business vendors setting up stalls on the street. They also have to keep an eye on the urban management vehicles to see if they are On patrol. In the past, as soon as the twelfth lunar month entered, everyone began to stock up on new year's goods. There was no space at all in Wuqiu Market. It was so crowded that people with children rushing to the party had to worry about whether their children would be lost in the crowd. It is also common for the township government's loudspeaker to shout about looking for children.

The Chinese New Year is approaching, but Wuqiu Market is not as lively as it should be during the Chinese New Year. Walking into the supermarket, the supermarket was very busy and lively. Fruits and vegetables, chickens, ducks, fish, milk and eggs... People's shopping carts are all piled high. A trip to the supermarket can get them all for the New Year.

The wind blows leisurely on spring's forehead, warming it up.

After buying some New Year goods, I drove slowly through Wuqiu Jishang Main Street and passed the stone monument of "Damei Wuqiu". Oh, I am from Dameiwuqiu, or "I am a Damei" for short!
