When is the best time to travel on the 318 Sichuan-Tibet line, and when is the best time to rent a car to go to the Sichuan-Tibet line?
As one of the four routes to Tibet, the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Line has become the first choice of countless people because of its infinite scenery along the way. Along the way, you can see the blue sky and lake, the white mountains and snow, the golden grasslands and the red monasteries, and explore the places and cultures that we have never touched ...
I have gone through 318 for many times. Here is a classic route guide to share with you, and it is recommended to collect it!
First, the best month to take the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Line
The best month to take the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Line is April-May and September-October every year, and the overall weather is relatively comfortable during these two periods. However, this period is the peak season, so there will be many tourists, food and accommodation will be tight, and related consumption will also rise, so you should look at your own budget and make reasonable plans.
Spring blossoms in May, and autumn is crisp in September, but I personally recommend September-October, which is the most beautiful season on the Sichuan-Tibet line. Everywhere, the mountains are blooming and the red leaves are wandering, which makes you feel that from summer to autumn, the mountains are faded from green and put on red coats. At this time, the temperature is also very suitable, and after the rainy season, there is not so much rain, and it is safer to travel.
In addition, because the rainy season is between June and August, the weather is unpredictable, not only heavy rain, but also hail. Strong wind and heavy rain can blow people into the sky, so it is a bit dangerous to go at this time. Since November, the Sichuan-Tibet line has gradually entered the winter, and the weather has turned cold. Many places have begun to snow and freeze. In severe cases, it is very dangerous to go there, so it is not recommended at all.
2. About renting a car
1. Booking in advance
Cars should be booked in advance. The Sichuan-Tibet line is obviously in the off-peak season, and it may be hard to find a car for a temporary departure. It is best to book a car two weeks in advance, and making an appointment in advance will also allow sufficient time for vehicle maintenance, oil change, tire inspection and equipment.
2. Car rental expenses
When renting a car, you must choose a regular rental company with a physical store, pay a deposit in advance to keep the car, agree on the time of using the car and where to pick it up, record a car inspection video after seeing the car, make up the final payment, and agree on the time of returning the car. The price of renting a car generally depends on the model, time and whether it is a holiday or not.
Strictly speaking, the Sichuan-Tibet line is a peak season from April to October, but there are still fewer people in April, so renting a car is cheaper at this time. During the period from November to mid-March, the mountains on the Sichuan-Tibet line are closed due to heavy snow, so it is generally not allowed to enter Tibet.
Let's take the Toyota Prado that we rented before. In April, it was 7-one day in 8 yuan, and the fare in Lhasa was 6, yuan. It cost about 12,3 yuan to rent a car and drive along the Sichuan-Tibet line, excluding oil. When the number of people starts to increase in July and August, it will be 8-9 a day, Lhasa will pay back the fare of 6,5, and Sichuan and Tibet will spend 16, in 1 days. This price is actually a little expensive.
I need to remind you that car rental agencies will take advantage of the National Day to raise another wave of prices (ranging from 1 to 3 yuan), and the price of accommodation will also increase during this period, so if there is enough time, it is not recommended to go to the National Day.

1. It is recommended to take drugs such as rhodiola to prevent hyperreflexia, and do what you can during the play. If you feel unwell, you need to return to a place with low altitude;
2. Bring other medicines such as intestines and stomach: be careful about diet and prepare in advance for acclimatization or carsickness;
3. The plateau climate is very dry, which may lead to nosebleeds, chapped lips and discomfort of nose and throat. You should bring moisturizer, lip balm, topical ointment for nasal cavity and throat lozenges.
4. Traffic jams and other geological problems in Lu Yu: You can bring some high-calorie snacks such as chocolate/Snickers, ham and beef jerky to supplement your physical strength;
5. Strong sunlight and ultraviolet rays on the plateau will hurt your eyes. Remember to prepare a sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
6. The temperature difference in western Sichuan is large, so it is recommended to take a waterproof coat or jacket with you to keep out the cold.
v. About accommodation
You should book in advance at one o'clock in the peak season, and the housing is limited. If you book temporarily, you will either have no room or have to live. In addition, try to stay at low altitude for 2 nights. If you want to stay at high altitude, it is recommended to choose an oxygen hotel.
