Du Fu - Life Summary
Du Fu (712-770): Tang poet. The character is beautiful, and in the poem he calls himself Shaolingye Lao. A native of Duling, Jingzhao (southwest of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province today), he moved to Gongxian County (now part of Henan Province) during his great-grandfather's time. He is the grandson of Du Shenyan (a famous poet of the early Tang Dynasty) after the famous general Du Yu of the Jin Dynasty. He was eager to learn since he was a child, knowledgeable and had political ambitions. In the late Kaiyuan period, people who were promoted to Jinshi were not ranked and wandered around various places. At the age of 30, he returned to Luoyang, built a house in Yanshi, and got married there. In the third year of Tianbao (744), when Du Fu was 33 years old, he met Li Bai in Luoyang. At that time, Li Bai had just been "given gold and released". The two traveled together in Liang and Song Dynasties and established a friendship that has been passed down through the ages. The fifth year of Tianbao (746) was a turning point in Du Fu's life. In this year, he participated in an examination manipulated by Li Linfu and fell into a scam. After that, he lived in Chang'an for nearly ten years and made several attempts to promote him, but all failed. It can be said that the ten years in Chang'an made Du Fu go through many hardships. But it was precisely this that enabled Du Fu to see the suffering of the people and the safety of the country, and he also had a deeper understanding of the dark politics at that time. When the Anshi Rebellion broke out, Du Fu fell into the hands of the rebels and was escorted to Chang'an. He later fled to Fengxiang, where he paid an audience with Suzong and collected his remains from the official Zuo. After Chang'an was recovered, he returned to Beijing with Suzong, and because he spared Fang Guan's rescue, he was demoted to serve in the Huazhou Sigong Army (758). Soon he abandoned his official position and went to Qinzhou and Tonggu. He then moved to Chengdu and built a thatched cottage on Huanhua River, which is known as Huanhua Cottage in the world. Du Fu lived a relatively stable life in Chengdu for a period of time. For a time, he served as a staff officer in Yan Wumu, the military envoy to Jiannan. Later, due to the rebellion of soldiers and horses in Jiannan, Chengdu was in chaos. In his later years, he took his family out of Shu, lived in Zizhou, and traveled to neighboring counties. In the fifth year of Dali (770), he died of illness on the way from Tanzhou to Yuezhou. It is said that Leiyang will die. Du Fu - Characteristics of Poetry Du Fu wrote more than a thousand poems in his life, among which the famous ones are "Three Officials", "Three Farewells", "The Troops and Chariots", "Song of Thatched Cottage Broken by the Autumn Wind", "Beauty's Journey", " "Spring Hope" and so on. Du Fu's poems fully expressed his deep sympathy for the people and exposed the sharp opposition between the exploiters and the exploited in feudal society: "The wine and meat in the rich families smell stinky, and there are frozen bones on the road!" This immortal poem has been passed down from generation to generation. remembered by the Chinese people. "Dare to love to death in times of crisis, lonely and heartbroken!" This is a full demonstration of Du Fu's incomparable love for the motherland, which makes his poems highly popular. Du Fu's patriotic enthusiasm is also fully reflected in famous works such as "Looking at Spring" and "Hearing that the Government's Army Takes Henan and Hebei". In "Three Officials" and "Three Farewells", he praised the patriotic spirit of the people who endured all sufferings, and showed his innocent heart of patriotism and love for the people in front of readers. Out of love for the motherland and the people, he must have a strong hatred for the luxurious and dissolute appearance of the ruling class and the crimes that harm the country and the people. This point has been vividly expressed in the immortal masterpieces "The Journey of Military Chariots" and "The Journey of Beauties". A great patriot's concern for his country and his people must be reflected in other aspects. Some of Du Fu's poems about objects and scenes, and even his lyrical poems about couples, brothers, and friends, are all filled with deep feelings for the motherland and the people. In short, Du Fu's poems are an artistic record of the Tang Empire's transition from prosperity to decline. With his positive spirit of joining the world, Du Fu bravely, faithfully and profoundly reflected the extremely broad social reality. No matter what kind of dangerous situation he was in, he never lost confidence. In the long history of literature in my country, the cognitive role of Du Fu's poetry has been The reference, educational and aesthetic functions are all difficult to achieve. The greatest artistic feature of Du's poetry is that the poet often hides his subjective feelings in objective descriptions, allowing the things themselves to impress the readers. For example, in "Beauty's Journey", the poet did not directly reprimand the Yang brothers and sisters for their dissoluteness. However, the author's love-hate attitude has been fully revealed from the specific description of their clothing, diet, etc.
