A year late travelogue of eating, drinking and walking with children in Guangzhou, Huizhou and Shunde
After returning from Hainan in early March, I stopped for two months, and my desire to travel began to start again. Guangzhou Chimelong is the first destination that comes to mind, because the train teacher happened to be giving lectures in Guangdong at the end of April (our current travel principle is that where dad goes, that’s where the destination is). It was already mid-April. I checked the air tickets and found that a round trip cost more than 4,000. I gave up the idea after only thinking about it for a while. But late at night on April, when I was still holding my mobile phone and reluctant to fall asleep, I saw a post on Moments posted by an old classmate, "Giving children the right to use air tickets until May 12th." It's true that the bird that sleeps late catches the worm. The quota is occupied, as for where to go, I'll have to wait until I wake up to think about it. (Free air tickets for children is a benefit of China Merchants Bank Diamond Credit Card users, which will be discussed in detail later.) The next afternoon, while Xiao V was taking a nap, I hurriedly looked at the air tickets. Countless plans were formed and deleted in my mind. (For example, fly to Shenzhen and then go through Hong Kong, for example, go to Guangzhou first and then go to Sanya...) Finally, we booked a round trip from Beijing to Guangzhou from April 29 to May 7. My classmates also quickly helped to book the children's tickets for little V. Thank you again My old classmate helped us complete a quick trip. Before coming to Guangzhou, I planned to go to Chimelong to see animals this time, but as soon as I walked on the road in Guangzhou, I was instantly enveloped by the heat wave. I experienced the sauna day in advance. I just wanted to blow the air conditioner in the house and didn't want to go anywhere. Fortunately, Guangzhou is the capital of gourmet food, and it would take several days just to check in the famous restaurants, so this trip turned into a complete summer vacation for foodies, so much so that at the end of the trip, Xiao V, who was in the stage of learning to speak, said There are more high-frequency words such as pouting and drinking tea.
? At 4:30 in the morning on the 29th, I had already gotten up early and made all preparations for departure. I whispered in Xiao V’s ear that we were getting ready to take a flight. She immediately sat up like a conditioned reflex. Rubbing her eyes, she asked me to help her get dressed. Ten minutes later, she was already sitting on the Yidao bus bound for the airport. Xiao V is now an "old driver" who has accumulated more than 10,000 flight miles. I am already familiar with flying with her by myself. As long as I bring enough snacks, I can basically hold it. Get off the plane and meet the train teacher, take Metro Line 3 and then Line 2. When you exit Haizhu Square Station, you will find Guangzhou Hotel. I have to complain about the Guangzhou subway. In many stations, the elevators are not open. The Line 3 subway does not even have bathrooms in the stations. It is simply too inhumane.
Accommodation in Guangzhou during the Canton Fair and the May Day holiday is really a big deal, expensive. You can only choose between location and comfort. If you want to satisfy both, the price starts at least 1,000 yuan. The location of Guangzhou Hotel is very good. It is only a ten-minute walk to Beijing Road Pedestrian Street and Tianzi Pier 1. But I really don't recommend staying at this hotel. Although I read a lot of bad reviews online, I thought this is a four-star hotel after all, so it shouldn't be too bad. As soon as I entered the room, it was really worse than I imagined. The price of more than 500 per night was the configuration of a hotel in the 1990s. Fortunately, I have now become accustomed to bringing my own kettle and sheets and sleeping bag. Next time I come to Guangzhou, I’ll stay near Zhengjia Plaza or Zhujiang New Town. The reason why the Guangzhou Hotel is so popular yet still maintains a high popularity is probably because of the two restaurants above the hotel. After putting down our luggage, we went to the Deyungong Restaurant on the top floor of the hotel for lunch. It was the first day of the holiday, and the restaurant was very popular. We had to wait for half an hour to get a table. Most of the people who came to eat here were local Guangzhou people having family dinners. Except for the ginger pork knuckle that I'm not used to, everything else is good (anyway, it tastes better than any Cantonese tea restaurant in Beijing). If you are lucky enough to sit by the window and look at the Pearl River not far away, drinking tea is also a pleasure. Don’t dare to order more, there is still a long list of delicious food waiting for us to review. I went back to the room to take a nap, and the train teacher stayed with me. I scanned Mobike and continued to look for food. In the sultry afternoon, I rode for more than 20 minutes to "Zhenzhen Snack Bar" in Liwan District. It is a veritable fly restaurant. Overcrowded. This restaurant specializes in beef noodle soup. I ordered the signature beef brisket clay pot noodle. I only wanted to try a few bites, but the first bite tasted pretty good. With the sour radish kimchi in the store, I almost finished the whole pot. I wanted to eat the beef ball noodles and pork intestine rice noodles ordered by others, but I couldn’t hold them in my stomach. I think something that tastes delicious even when you’re not hungry at all can probably be considered really delicious. Students who like light food may not like it too much, but I do like the rich soup and tender meat. After eating this, I cycled back to Beijing Road near the hotel. When I was packing "Yinji rice rolls" at the food pedestrian street, the rain that I had been holding back all day finally started to rain. When I returned to the hotel, I woke up just in time. In order to taste more delicious food, I tried my best not to go to the restaurants I ate in Guangzhou last time, but Yinji and Taotaoju still must not be missed. Yinji rice rolls can be said to be the most delicious among all the rice rolls I have ever eaten. It looks like a soft puddle, but when you eat it, it has distinct layers in your mouth and is pink, smooth and tender. Of course, their Tingzi porridge is also It’s pretty good, but in order to make room for more delicacies in the limited stomach space, the staple food is omitted if possible.
As the rain gradually stopped, I walked to Diandu Deyulou store under an umbrella. It was just half past five and I was already waiting for a table. Fortunately, I waited for ten minutes before I could be seated. I ordered another table without feeling hungry, and when I paid, I was given a box of wood-fired eggs that were not much bigger than quail eggs. Walking around the streets to eat, everyone has a variety of snacks in their hands, and there are almost always queues waiting for a table in every store. In this atmosphere, I unconsciously want to eat something more.
After returning to the hotel and putting little V to sleep, the lively and lively night snack has just begun. This time it is the train teacher’s turn to go out for food, but the coconut stew recommended on Dianping is very good. Generally speaking, it is not as delicious as the coconut chicken soup I made in Hainan.
? As soon as I opened my eyes the next day, I went directly to Yin Deng Restaurant, another time-honored restaurant on the second floor of the hotel, for morning tea. Maybe it was because the food from the first day had not been digested in my stomach, so it didn’t feel as delicious as Deyungong. . After breakfast, I took the subway to K11 near Zhujiang New Town and walked around. As soon as I stepped out of the subway, all kinds of towering buildings hit my face. Only here can I feel that Guangzhou is also a first-tier city. There are almost no such art malls in Beijing, and the only one that can rival it is Parkview Green. It is a shopping mall with a high-end environment. Just take a photo and post it to a group of friends. Unfortunately, we are not selfie enthusiasts. I am more concerned about whether the supporting facilities in the mall are complete. The family bathrooms and maternal and child rooms here are all in good condition. The restaurants in the shopping mall are also of a type that is particularly suitable for posting on friends. We were attracted by a bistro with an elegant environment. It turns out that in addition to the perfect decoration, the taste of the food is really hard to describe. Maybe it was because the too many delicacies on the first day quickly made my mouth itch, or maybe it was because the weather was too hot and muggy, and I didn’t have much interest in eating all kinds of food on this day. In order to avoid further trial and error, I decided to eat at a famous restaurant like Taotaoju. Relatively safe. I found that little V has the potential to become a gourmet. She only tried a few bites at the less successful restaurant at noon. In the evening, she ordered three dishes at Taotaoju, and she ate half of them.
? If I don’t go out to eat something on my last night in Guangzhou, I always feel that the day has not been fulfilled. There are several Vietnamese restaurants near where we live. Yes, they are Vietnamese food, but they are packaged in Cantonese cuisine. For Vietnamese food, there are always a lot of people waiting for a table during the meal. So after my little V fell asleep, I went to Jin Yuexuan, a five-minute walk from the hotel, and packed up a large pot of tom yum goong soup noodles. It was already past 10 o'clock in the evening, and I finally didn't have to wait for a table, but the seats were still full, and new diners kept coming in. .
In order to escape the sweltering heat like a sauna, we decided to leave Guangzhou and go to the beach to escape the summer heat. Little V has a high enthusiasm for playing with water and sand, which can be regarded as making up for her regret of not going to Changlong. In order to make it easier to return the car at the airport before leaving, we returned to Baiyun Airport and rented a car at Avis. Judging from past experience, when renting a car, you still need to find a big company. The condition of the car is generally good, and the violation deposit is only a credit card pre-authorization. It will not be like some small companies that secretly charge money. Although it will be refunded later, it always makes people feel unreliable. . Even though the Skoda Fabia is not big, the trunk is still quite large. Our 20-inch and 28-inch boxes plus the trolley and two backpacks can be packed in without any pressure. This small car is suitable for a family of three to rent, and the 1.4 displacement is also very fuel-efficient.
? The Xunliao Bay we chose belongs to Huizhou, which is more than 4 hours’ drive and more than 300 kilometers away from Guangzhou. It is closer to Shenzhen and can be regarded as the Beidaihe of Shenzhen people. You can see beautiful real estate advertisements and large and small construction sites everywhere. The entire area is still in the initial stage of vigorous development. After getting off the expressway, we had to drive more than 30 kilometers of dusty country roads to reach our hotel. The scenery switches back and forth between glamorous high-end communities and small rural towns. To be precise, this Howard Johnson Tan Yue Hotel no longer belongs to Xunliao Bay, but is called Shuangyue Bay. It is named Shuangyue Bay because it is located between two bays. When the weather is good, you can climb up to the local Daxing Mountain Observation Deck and you can see a long and narrow peninsula sandwiched between the two bays. There is also a turtle spawning reserve near the observation deck. Of course, you are not allowed to see the actual place where eggs are laid. You can only see a few turtles and specimens raised in a large pool. The conditions are very poor. I have been to any one in the country. Anyone who wants a modern aquarium can forget about this place.
? Howard Johnson Tan Yue Hotel is located in a bay facing the sea. The hotel decoration is very stylish. You can see the sea view from the transparent lobby, which is not inferior to the luxury hotels in Yalong Bay. Although it was exposed to the sun during the day, the sea breeze finally made it feel less stuffy. I accidentally discovered this hotel on Xianyu. Many hotel apartment owners rent out their houses on Xianyu. The price is half cheaper than booking a hotel room on Ctrip. An 80-square-meter apartment with two bedrooms and one living room costs 400 yuan per night. Guests staying in apartments are treated exactly the same as hotel guests. Swimming pools, children's playgrounds, cinemas, gyms, and KTVs are all free to use. Of course, due to the price limit, I was assigned to the building on the far side. In addition to the sea view, it also came with a large view of the construction site. When they got to the room, little V couldn't wait to put on her swimsuit and started to go swimming. The hotel has three swimming pools, the largest one is the children's pool, the water depth is only 1.2 meters, and the beach, water slides, water curtain holes and other things that children like are carefully arranged. But there were too many mosquitoes here, and poor little V had his head above the water, and soon he got a big bite under his eye. The one closest to the seaside is an infinity swimming pool. The swimming pool has been exposed to the sun all day, but it also maintains a warm temperature in the evening, without worrying about the sun being too strong to burn the skin.
You can look at the sea while lying by the pool, and you can look back at the scenery of the entire hotel. In the evenings of the next few days, we spent time in this infinity pool. It was rainy on the second day of our stay, so everyone could find ways to pass the time in the hotel's children's playground and gym. The only dissatisfaction is that the actual beach is really unsatisfactory. It is a bit difficult to call it a beach, and a gravel beach is more accurate. Facing the open sea, the wind and waves were extremely strong and the waves were roaring. Little V, who loves the sea and the beach, only stayed there for a few minutes and no longer wanted to play. Fortunately, the hotel has enough entertainment options to make up for the lack of nature. There is also a small infinity pool on the top floor of the hotel, probably trying to imitate the Sands Hotel in Singapore. However, it’s very cold at high altitudes and the current season is not suitable for going into the water. Just take some photos.
In the inner bay on the other side of Shuangyue Bay, the beach and waves are much gentler. This place is almost contracted by Vanke's real estate. It has been built in the third phase and the fourth phase is also being planned. We went to see the model apartments, and every apartment had a large balcony facing the sea. There are more apartments for rent here. You can search a lot of them on Tujia. They are all uniquely decorated and slightly cheaper. However, there seems to be a big problem with the water supply in the community during that time. The water supply can only be provided for 2 hours a day. Every day, water tankers line up to deliver water to the community. Otherwise we might choose to stay here.
? In the past few days in Shuangyue Bay, this was the worst and most enjoyable meal. Either eat Roujiamo for more than 20 yuan each in the hotel, or eat at farmhouse-level seafood food stalls outside the hotel. Fortunately, the landlord recommended a restaurant called "Donghaiwan Steam Seafood". After eating the steamed seafood in Xiamen, I couldn't forget it. The seafood in this inconspicuous shop is very clean, so you don't have to bother to remove the digestive system of shrimps and shellfish. It's a pity. There were only a few of us, so we were limited in what we could order. The porridge at the bottom was finished before it became soft and glutinous. The price is not cheap either. Ordering 8-9 kinds of seafood costs more than 80 per person.
? It wasn’t until the last full day of our stay that we discovered that there was a large seafood market 5 kilometers away from us, and there were relatively simple kitchenware in the room. Whenever we visit a new place, visiting the local vegetable market is one of our favorite things to do. Being able to cook and eat with local ingredients is a unique travel experience. After walking around the market, I regretted not discovering it earlier. If there were not more tempting delicacies waiting behind me, I might have stayed a few more days. Not only is the price of seafood cheap, the rough seabed also makes the seafood here extremely clean, with no sand at all. Then I bought onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil, simply steamed them, and the seafood dinner was ready to be served. On the morning of check-out, I didn’t waste the eggs provided by Doude. The seafood noodles and eggs were perfect.
From Shuangyue Bay, I drove directly to Shunde District of Foshan City, a place that every foodie must visit. Especially after watching the documentary "Exploring Shunde" during the Spring Festival, this place was quickly mentioned as a travel destination. Eat in Guangzhou and cook in Fengcheng. Even though it is only a few dozen kilometers away from Guangzhou, the food has its own system. Many famous Cantonese dishes originated in Shunde. When we got here, Changlu Leisure Expo Park (a copycat of Changlong), Fengjian Water Village, and the beautiful Luhu Lake were not included in the plan (because it was too hot). In just two days, we only had to drive a car to explore.
? For the convenience of eating, I originally wanted to stay near Qinghui Garden, where the most delicious food is concentrated. However, the nearest Xiangyunsha Hotel was fully booked, and the other New World Hotel was so weird that children without ID cards had to go there. You will need a certificate from the police station to check in. So I chose Junlai Hotel, which is more than ten minutes' walk from Qinghui Garden. The location is not bad. After checking into the hotel, I opened the map and saw that many famous restaurants are within walking distance. Let’s start by walking around Qinghui Garden (chi). There are two time-honored brands that make double skin milk very close to each other on Huagai Road. We all agreed that Minxin is more delicious than Renxin, with a richer milk flavor.
generally.
? After eating these three restaurants, it’s time to have dinner. The "Liao Neng Private Kitchen" not far from the hotel has very high reviews online. If you are afraid of waiting for a seat, you have to go there early according to the navigation. The waiter is still waiting for you. Eating. While waiting for the meal to start, we have been studying the photos of the dishes hanging on the wall. Each one looks delicious, and finally we selected the dishes with the most Shunde characteristics. The roast goose freshly baked is crispy-skinned, and the sweet and sour plum sauce is just enough to soothe it. It is simply not the same kind of food as the roast goose made by Mrs. Goose at the one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Guorui City.
? On the last day when I had free time, I raced against the clock to eat and eat. I had morning tea at a Shunde family and witnessed the spectacular morning tea in the banquet hall with thousands of people.
? Lunch was reserved for Junan Steamed Pig, who had been deeply interested in watching the first episode of China on the Tip of the Tongue. Jun'an Town is more than 20 kilometers away from Daliang District where we live, and this distance is not a problem if you have a car. Navigation found a restaurant "Dabanqiao Farm" that Cai Lam had appointed. In front of the delicious food, any adjectives are redundant. I just wish I could pack it back and eat more meals.
By dinner time, I was already feeling a little weak, so I found the top-ranked "My Private Kitchen" on Dianping and drove there. At first, parking was difficult, but the landlady ignored me, and the environment was a bit frustrating. I finally waited for the food to arrive. Now I understand the reason why the landlady is so arrogant. If the food is of a certain standard, no matter what other conditions are, there will definitely be no shortage of diners.
I didn’t bother to try the restaurants such as Wenhua Friends and Datouhua Roast Goose mentioned in "Exploring Shunde" (it was the weekend and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to queue up). In fact, they are somewhat famous in Shunde. The restaurants here are not bad at cooking. I can’t say that every dish is amazing, but there is definitely nothing unpalatable. This is probably the reason why it can be called a gourmet city. I still feel a lot of regrets when I write my travelogue (my mouth is watering as I write). I didn’t even have time to eat the famous sauna fish, claypot rice, and porridge hot pot, so I’ll just use this as motivation to go there next time.
? This trip was basically about eating. I wished I could eat five meals a day. When we got home, Teacher Train and I were surprised to find that neither of us had gained weight. Thinking about it, we have basically never eaten staple food these days (porridge and rice), no matter how eager we are, we never try them for fear of taking up too much space in our stomachs. In addition, Pu'er tea is always in hand every day, which may have eliminated most of the greasiness. In restaurants that serve Laohuo soup, you must first drink the soup. The soup takes up space and you feel full without eating much. This is why there are almost no fat people in a place like Guangdong where there are many delicious foods. p>
After returning home, restore the black-haired zucchini and locally learned desserts
Little V’s travel list
? Even though Little V is growing up now, he needs to specially prepare for it The supplies she prepares for travel are getting simpler and simpler, but the following are still necessary: ??snacks and enough snacks. Snacks are definitely a magic tool for coaxing babies on planes and long-distance driving. Anyway, as long as you prepare enough for little V, she likes them. She can sit quietly and eat snacks like seaweed, puffs, milk tablets, nuts... every time she goes out, it takes up half a box. Of course, after these snacks are used up, we can buy them in bulk on the return trip. Provide more space. This time I brought back 6 local specialty black zucchini from Shunde, as well as various soup ingredients and small desserts that can be stored for a period of time. I also had to carry 3 or 4 of my favorite books (now super). Fans of "Thomas the Tank Engine"), after all, they don't want to eat snacks, and telling stories can also calm the little girl down. Of course, the final trump card is the dozens of episodes of "Peppa Pig" videos stored on her mobile phone, so she doesn't feel like eating when she is out. Strictly control the time you spend watching videos. Adults will be tired when traveling, let alone children, so just watch it. Both adults and children can relax.
Other essentials include nursing care. : Ear thermometer, Dettol, band-aid, diarrhea medicine, stomach and digestive tablets, vitamin C water;
Life style: diapers (you can usually get rid of diapers at home, but considering that sometimes I’m tired from playing during the day and can’t wake up at night, so I still use it every night when I go out. It can also be used when I can’t find a toilet in the Guangzhou subway), diaper pads, laundry soap, bath soap, and bath towels. , sleeping bags, sheets, portable electric kettles, floor mats;
Eating: baby bottles, milk powder, bibs, wet wipes, soft towels, hand sanitizer, small bowls, spoons, forks, small chopping boards , fruit knife, dishwashing liquid;
Clothing: In addition to preparing several sets of clothes of different thicknesses according to the temperature of the travel destination, hats, sunglasses, slippers, and swimsuits
These are the usual things The items that are not commonly used are divided into different categories, and the items that are frequently used are kept at hand. Just put them in the box before going out.
Children’s air ticket rights
< p> ? This is one of the benefits of the China Merchants Bank high-end credit card diamond card. Within the one-year validity period of the credit card, there are four free domestic air tickets for children (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), which must be direct flights, and do not include transfers and connecting flights. The reservation is not allowed. Cancellation and change of registration. After registering a child’s information for the first time within this year, the same person must use it for the next three times. There are many people on Xianyu who transfer this right, and the general price is around 2,000. I don’t dare to buy it. After all, I can’t buy all four tickets at once. In addition to paying the transfer fee, I usually have to pay a deposit. I feel that the protection of Xianyu is not as complete as Taobao. It is difficult to protect my rights if I encounter scammers. At the beginning of this year, I bought this right from a Weidian store that sells parent-child travel (it is no longer for sale) for 2,200 yuan. After all, it is a large-scale company, and there is some guarantee. Using Xiaov to fly between Xiamen and Haikou is much cheaper than buying children's air tickets directly. Diamond card holders also have the privilege of staying in high-end hotels at home and abroad and unlimited use of VIP lounges at airports across the country. If you often travel with children, it is still very cost-effective to get a diamond card (a hard annual fee of 3,600 yuan). There are still certain thresholds for applying for a diamond card. The application conditions I found online generally say that you need to have a deposit of 50,000 yuan or financial products in China Merchants Bank, or a credit card with China Merchants Bank that has a credit limit of more than 6,000 yuan.- Previous article:What are the famous Buddhist tourist attractions?
