How long has Dali existed in history? Why are there so few records about Dali?
In the history of thousands of years in our country, many dynasties were born, especially those orthodox dynasties. Other short-lived dynasties and some small countries also have many related records. But there was a dynasty that was almost forgotten because it was not recorded in the history books, and there was almost no sense of existence. Finally, it was remembered by Jin Yong's novels. It is a ruling Dali kingdom.
Speaking of Dali, I believe that the first thing you see is the Eight Branches of the Dragon written by Jin Yong. One of the three main characters in Dragon's Eight Branches is Duan Yu, a descendant of Dali, whose father is Duan. Although these two people are novel characters, they have prototypes in reality. Duan is the 15th emperor of Dali, a real royal middleman.
Although the Dali kingdom he ruled was not very big, it has a long history, and the Duan family of the royal family has been passed down for many generations. Dali is divided into two stages, one is the pre-rational stage of 937- 1094, and the other is the post-rational stage of 1096- 1253.
However, there are not many records of such a country with a long history in the history books. In addition to Dali being far away from the Central Plains at that time, there were also reasons for its own governance attitude. Although there were some wars when the People's Republic of China was founded, after the political power was stabilized, the whole country began to advocate Buddhism, and Duan's people were even more devout believers. Emperors of all ages abdicated in their later years and then became monks.
Perhaps it is precisely because of Dali's Buddhist nature that this multi-ethnic regime is relatively stable. Although there have been some great events that broke the bank, they have never wavered, so they can last for so many years. But in the later period of Dali, it was inevitable to face the problem of infighting. Duan Duan Yu took the lead because he was a talented monk and didn't want to be in charge of the secular world.
Duan Yu in reality is more calm than Duan Yu in the novel. Under the condition that he deliberately made friends with the Song Dynasty, Dali had no major problems for the time being, and he promoted the development of Dali at this stage. Unfortunately, when I entered old age, my energy was not as good as before, and I lost my previous control over things in the DPRK, so I abdicated and retired.
Under such circumstances, Dali circulates and does things at home, and there will be no obvious conflict with the outside world. Although there are still many connections with the Song Dynasty, it is not worthy of much attention for the big country Song Dynasty. After all, Dali is too far away, so I mentioned a few words in the official history. In addition, Dali was easily destroyed by Kublai Khan, and the history of Dali was broken, which made us unfamiliar with it.
If it weren't for Jin Yong's novels, I believe most people only know that Dali is a good place to travel, but they won't think of Dali, a country with a long history.
