Is Yamaguchi Momoe really a descendant of Concubine Yang? Then who died in Maweipo that year?
I know. There are many legends about the death of Concubine Yang. Some people think that Concubine Yang is not dead, but only a substitute. Yu Pingbo, a famous Chinese red scholar, holds this view. He believed that the person who hanged to death was a palace maid, but Yang ran away and fled to Japan. Also fleeing with Yang were Yang Guozhong's daughter-in-law and grandson Yang Huan. Legend has it that when Yang Yuhuan lived in Japan, he also helped the Japanese Emperor foil a palace coup! There are still two tombs of imperial concubines in Japan.
In 1963, a Japanese girl showed her family tree to the TV audience and said that she was a descendant of Concubine Yang. The famous Japanese movie star Momoe Yamaguchi also claims to be a descendant of Concubine Yang.
There are also various opinions in Japan. There is a theory that the deceased was a double, and Concubine Yang fled to Kutsu, Aburaya Town, Otsu County, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. The substitute was a maid. The army commander Chen Xuanli felt pity for the concubine's beauty and could not bear to kill her, so he conspired with Gao Lishi to replace her with a maid. Gao Lishi used a car to transport the body of the concubine, and it was Chen Xuanli who examined the body, so the plan was successful. Concubine Yang Guifei was escorted by Chen Xuanli's cronies and fled south. She sailed to the sea near present-day Shanghai and arrived at Kutsu, Yuya Town, Japan.
After Tang Xuanzong put down the Anshi Rebellion, he sent alchemists to go to sea to search for it. After finding Concubine Yang in Jiujin, the alchemist also handed her the two Buddha statues presented by Xuanzong, and Concubine Yang gave her a hosta in return. These two Buddha statues are still enshrined in the Kujin courtyard in Japan. Concubine Yang eventually died in Japan and was buried in the Kujin courtyard. To this day, there is still a five-wheel pagoda in the local area that is said to be the tomb of Concubine Yang. The Five Wheel Pagodas are five stone pagodas built on the tomb of Concubine Yang. There are two wooden boards in front of Yang Guifei's tomb, one is an explanation about the Five-wheel Pagoda, and the other is an explanation about Yang Guifei. It says: "The tomb of Yang Guifei full of mystery and romance----About Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang and Six Dynasties The legend of concubine Yang Guifei. "Japanese people like to pay homage to Yang Guifei's tomb, saying that they can get beautiful and lovely children by doing so. Currently, Japan is preparing to open the tomb of Concubine Yang as a tourist attraction.
