Qingdao Laoshan Travel Guide Must-See Attractions

Qingdao Laoshan is full of interest because of its unique scenery and long cultural history. Visitors can feel Laozi's ashram, the mountains by the sea, and the natural landscape here. So what are the must-visit attractions when traveling to Laoshan?

Laoshan Mountain includes Taiqing Tourist Area, Jufeng Tourist Area, Huayan Tourist Area, Yangkou Tourist Area and Jiushui Tourist Area.

1. Taiqing Tourist Area

The main attractions in Taiqing Tourist Area include Taiqing Palace, Mingxia Cave, Shangqing Palace, Longtan Waterfall, etc. Laoshan is famous for its immortals, and Taiqing Tourist Area is also the core of Taoist culture and the origin of the immortal mountains. The focus of the Laiqing tourist area is Taoist culture, with many ancient and valuable trees. In the scenic area, you can hear myths, legends and anecdotes, observe cultural relics and taste the vicissitudes of ancient times.

Tour route: - Longtan Waterfall, Bashui River Square, - Shangqing Palace, - Mingxia Cave, - Taiqing Cableway (or walking), - Taiqing Palace (the reverse is also possible ), the tour lasts about four hours.

The Taiqing Tourist Area has three major tourist areas: Bashui River Area, Taiqing Palace Area, and Maritime Tourist Area.

2. Jufeng Tourist Area

Jufeng, commonly known as "Laoding", has an altitude of 1,133 meters. It is the highest peak on mainland China's 18,000 kilometers of coastline, with mountains and seas, and everything is renewed. There is a mountain sightseeing road around the giant peak with an altitude of 800-900 meters. Standing on most sections, you can overlook the sea and see the sky and sea. There are eight mountain gates named after the Eight Diagrams of the Book of Changes on the ring road, which correspond to the eight surrounding mountain passes. They are a wonderful combination of the great creation of nature and the thoughts of ancient sages. The giant peak of Laoshan Mountain is the best choice for climbing for fitness and praying for blessings.

To visit Jufeng, you must take a sightseeing bus up the mountain, and self-driving vehicles must park in the parking lot of Laoshan Visitor Service Center. After getting off the sightseeing bus, there are two ways to climb the mountain, one is to take the ropeway, and the other is to walk up the mountain. This journey takes about ten minutes by cableway and about an hour and a half by foot. The area near the Tiewa Temple ruins near the station on the ropeway is relatively steep, so be careful when going up the mountain.

3. Huayan Tourist Area

Huayan Tourist Area is located in the east of Laoshan Scenic Area, with Taiqing in the south, Yangkou in the north, giant peaks in the west, and the sea in the east. It is the only Buddhist tourist area in Laoshan, mainly including Huayan Temple, Narayana Cave, Fahai Sculpture and other famous attractions. Yansi is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea in the east. It drifts with the tide, is simple and elegant, and its asymmetrical layout is rare in Buddhist architecture. It is the ancestral hall of Chinese Mantis Boxing.

Take a sightseeing bus at the parking lot of Yangkou Tourist Area to Huayan Tourist Area. Tour route: Faxian Square - Huazang Gate - Pagoda Courtyard - Huayan Temple - Jade Valley Stone - Narayana Cave. The entire tour takes approximately two and a half hours.

4. Yangkou Tourist Area

Yangkou Tourist Area is located in the northeast of Laoshan Scenic Area, facing the rippling Yellow Sea and leaning against the mountains. The main features of the scenic spot are Taiping Palace Taoist Temple and Bay Beach. It has unique natural landscapes, rich cultural landscapes, and a long history and culture. Since ancient times, this place has been known as a scenic spot and a blessed place. It is famous for its eight major scenic spots, including Gaihua Yingbin, Sea Palace, Taiping Xiaozhong, Shifeng Binri, Youlong Daojing, Fairy Mountain Peak, Strange Cave Xuntian, and Tianyuan Range Rover. It is also world-famous as a mecca for relaxation, summer vacation, and entertainment.

After entering the scenic spot, there is a ropeway on the left (it is recommended to take the ropeway if your legs are not good or if you are in a hurry. It takes 25 minutes to go back and forth, and then you can stand near Shouzi Peak. If it is a one-way ride, it is recommended to take the ropeway up and down, you can Cableway to see the sea view); the hiking route on the right is: Taiping Palace - Lion Peak - Yulong Cave - Xiantao - Shouzi Peak - Tianmi Cave - Tianyuan Garden. The entire tour takes about 2-3 hours.

5. Jiushui Tourism Area

Jiushui originates from Tianyi Spring at an altitude of 1,100 meters on the north side of Jufeng Mountain. This is the highest spring in Laos

Route: Guanlao parking lot - wooden plank road - Sanshui - Wuji Lake - Lengcui Gorge - Qishui hanging curtain - Guanpu Pavilion - Yin Super Waterfall——Zhu Weiguan. The main attractions "Nine Waters and Eighteen Pools" and various hieroglyphs are mostly concentrated on this route.
