Opening hours of Lianhua Mountain in Guangzhou in 2022

Lianhua Mountain Scenic Area is located in the eastern suburb of Panyu District, 20 kilometers away from Guangzhou. Lianhua Mountain, formerly known as "Stone Stone", is an ancient quarry, named after the stone head hibiscus (lotus) left after quarrying. As early as the Western Han Dynasty, our ancestors mined stones here on a large scale, forming cliffs and grotesque caves, such as Lotus Stone, Yanzi Rock, Baxian Rock, Lotus Rock, Guanyin Rock, Fei Ying Rock, the worse gate and the fairy bridge.

Yanzi Rock

Yanzi Rock in Lianhua Mountain Scenic Area is the essence of ancient quarries. The rugged cliffs and boulders in the area, or bird paths or deep holes, are semi-artificial, semi-natural and magnificent. Looking up from the cliff, I saw a series of confrontations on all sides of the cliff, with strange peaks and rocks towering into the sky. The vast sky has been reduced to a courtyard, and the rugged boulders are crumbling, thrilling and dazzling. In Yanzi Rock Scenic Area, listen carefully to the dripping sound on the rocks and watch the swallows hovering and dancing, moving silently and picturesque. The vines climbing on the rocks are like a green wall. At the turn of spring and summer, bloom blooms like a colorful watercolor painting. With beautiful scenery and sharp contrast between mountains and rivers, it has become the first choice for many film and television directors.

Some of these grotesque giant rocks are like knives with flat sections; Some stone walls are deep, like a huge shrine; Others stand in the water, pointing to the blue sky, like huge pillars. These are not the wonders of nature, but carved by our ancestors. The tools used by ancient masons were very rough and clumsy, but they were very clever and experienced. According to the grain direction of the stone, they made three holes in the rock, and took turns to chisel, and the stone would suddenly break along the grain. After thousands of years, the texture on the stone wall is still clearly discernible, and the degree of weathering is extremely low, which shows how hard the red sandstone on this mountain is.

Lianhuata

Lotus Pagoda was built in the 40th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (16 12), formerly known as Wenchang Pagoda. The tower is 50 meters high and octagonal, with 9 floors on the outside and 1 1 floor inside. The tower is dedicated to the statue of Confucius in Shiwan. Lotus City was built in the third year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1664), which is a clear evidence of the implementation of the "sea ban" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. During the Opium War, Lotus City witnessed the important history of British invasion and blackmail of Hong Kong. Lotus Pagoda and Lotus City are both cultural relics protection units in Guangdong Province.

Guanyinyan

Guanyinyan was originally a stone chamber left over from quarrying. There are many stone chambers like Guanyin Rock in Lianhua Mountain. Guanyinyan was originally a nun and dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. Looking up in the hall, the words "Seven Years of Yongzheng" are faintly visible on the stone wall, but the source of these words has not yet been found.

Shizishi

Lion Mountain in Guangzhou Lotus Mountain Scenic Area is located at the eastern foot of Lianhua Mountain. A stone looks like a lion, lurking on the cliff, facing the east, and looks like it growls at the mouth of the Pearl River, so Lotus Mountain is also called "Lion Mountain", and the Pearl River section in front is called Lion Ocean. According to archaeologists' analysis, Lianhua Mountain was originally just an isolated island at sea. Thousands of years later, the sea changed, the sea receded, the land rose, the Lotus Mountain became a hill, and the seabed became land. Lion rock was once a rock on the edge of an island. For thousands of years, it has been beaten, eroded and weathered by waves and sea breeze, and it has become what it is today. It is like a loyal guardian of Lianhua Mountain, guarding Lianhua Mountain day and night. It is also the best testimony of the changes in Lianhua Mountain.

Flying eagle duck

The landscape of Fei Ying Cliff is just the opposite of that of Yanzi Rock. Looking from the railing on the cliff, you can see criss-crossing buildings, fertile land, the vast Pearl River, the winding wind and light in the east and south. Looking back, you can see the stone pillars and stalagmites pointing to the sky, and the prominent stone screens are vivid. The formation of these landscapes is more than 2000 years, and the ancestors of past dynasties have been "carving" rocks. It is really "man-made unintentional is better than nature". No one would have thought that there would be such a wonderful spectacle.
