Congratulations to Hefei, Luzhou Prefecture for successfully being promoted to a megacity

In the past ten years, Hefei has made great achievements in all aspects of construction. In terms of economic construction, Hefei's GDP has jumped year by year. In 2020, Hefei will enter the top 20 in the country, one step away from Quanzhou and Jinan in front.

As can be seen from the chart, Hefei actually has the basic conditions to hit the top 10. Some people may think this is a bit exaggerated. Nanjing, where the author is located, has risen from 17th to the top 10 in the country in just a dozen years.

In the past, when Nanjing was dormant, when local media compared data, they always liked to use the filtered results of the top provincial capitals to achieve the visual effect of being at the top. In fact, everyone understood it, so they held back an impulse in their hearts and worked tirelessly to finally get their wish. Last year was a breakthrough year for Hefei’s GDP, and also for Nanjing. Therefore, the author understands Hefei very well and is happy for Hefei.

The author has only been to Hefei once, the tourist area by Chaohu Lake, and Sanxiaokou. Hefei gave me a very good impression. It has the style of a big city in southern Jiangsu, vibrant, clean and elegant.

The impression left on me by Hefei in the past was that it was rough. More than ten years ago, there was a post on the Tianya Forum that caught my attention. A tourist from Hefei came to the Confucius Temple Scenic Area in Nanjing. When he returned home, he was filled with emotion and said how clean and elegant Nanjing is. During that period, urban sanitation in Nanjing was not good, and the public opinion media often complained about it. After reading his speech and the overwhelming number of comments and comments, I know the health situation in Hefei...

Luzhou Prefecture, with its elegant name, was actually changed to Hefei. Every time I see the word Hefei, I think of agriculture and fertilizers. It’s hard to understand why Hefei didn’t want to change its name. As a Jiangsu native, I have never known Hefei, but I often feel unhappy about it. Such a good area in the Yangtze River Delta and such a good city as Hefei have such an unpleasant name. If Hefei can change its name, I am personally willing to donate RMB 1,000 through WeChat or Alipay.

Some people say that Hefei just annexed Chaohu? Anyone with a little bit of historical knowledge knows that most of the current administrative division pattern is inherited from the Qing Dynasty, and the Qing Dynasty was inherited from the Ming Dynasty. Hefei only recycled some. Hefei in the Qing Dynasty included Hefei, Shucheng, Lujiang, Chaohu and Wuwei. When Chaohu was divided into three parts ten years ago, Wuwei along the river was given to Wuhu. In addition, Shucheng still belongs to Lu'an.

With economic and social development, today’s prefecture-level cities are generally smaller than ancient prefectures, which is a common situation in the Yangtze River Delta. Jiangning Prefecture, Zhenjiang Prefecture, and Changzhou Prefecture were all larger than they are now. This is a routine operation, and there are always exceptions to everything. Hangzhou City is a typical example. The current Hangzhou City includes Hangzhou Prefecture and Yanzhou Prefecture. The situation is that Haining County of Hangzhou Prefecture was transferred to Jiaxing, and Xiaoshan County of Shaoxing Prefecture was transferred to Hangzhou. As a result, the current area of ??Hangzhou City is equivalent to Shanghai, Nanjing, and Suzhou combined.

Back to the topic of Hefei, Hefei’s success is mainly due to seizing two opportunities and leveraging its own advantages.

The two opportunities are the three-point Chaohu and the construction of high-speed rail, and its own advantage is the University of Science and Technology of China. Hefei is now one of the largest high-speed rail hubs in the country and a national science and technology center city. The most important thing is that the industry lives up to its name.

The seventh national census data was released not long ago. Hefei’s permanent population is about 9.37 million, an increase of 1.91 million in ten years. It exceeds Nanjing in terms of population size and growth rate. The real release of this number is equivalent to the official announcement that Hefei has entered the ranks of mega cities.

As a Jiangsu native living in Nanjing, I have no relatives, friends, or work contacts in Hefei, but I would like to express my sincere congratulations to Luzhou, the former large city in Jiangnan Province.

Hefei is our brother city. In the Yangtze River Delta family, Hefei was first separated from Jiangnan Province, and then was given historical responsibilities. It is said that Jiangsu is in bulk and it is difficult to be the provincial capital, so is Anhui, and Hefei is even more difficult. Standing in Nanjing, I feel the same way. Seeing the progress of Hefei, I am really happy to recommend it to others. It’s not easy to set sail against the wind and face ups and downs over the years.

Congratulations again on Hefei’s success! It would be best to change the name to something nicer, Luzhou would be great.

(Whether it is the Yangtze River Delta, which is full of strong players, or the whole country, which is full of opportunities, Hefei also faces many challenges. I will write more when I have the opportunity)
