The Wave Valley in Jingbian, Shaanxi Province, known as "Rattle" in some areas, is located in Yanjiazhaizi, Longzhou Township, 22 kilometers southeast of Jingbian County, Shaanxi Province, commonly known as Yanzhaizi. Starting from Jingbian County, it takes half an hour's drive to reach Longzhou.

Landform formation

As for the formation of strange rocks like Wave Valley, the relevant records say this: Wave Valley shows the formation of numbers. A wonderful world carved out of sandstone by millions of years of wind, water and time.

The complex layers of rock in Wave Valley are made up of huge sand dunes that began to be deposited 150 million years ago during the Jurassic period. The dunes are continuously covered by layers of red sand soaked in groundwater. Over time, the minerals in the water condense the sand into sandstone, forming a laminated structure.

It is a miracle that Jingbian Wave Valley can have such a stone landscape in a loess-covered place in northern Shaanxi. The name "Wave Valley" in Jingbian was given by photographers who came here. It is somewhat different from the Wave Valley in Arizona. The Wave Valley in Arizona has white lines sandwiched between reds, and is red and white, while the Wave Valley in Jingbian is mainly red.
