The Changjia Manor, located in Yuci District, Jinzhong City, southeast of Taiyuan, is a private manor of the Changshi clan, a giant of Shanxi merchants in the Qing Dynasty. The tall castle gate faces east from west, and it is called Guo Genji. There is a deep-walled courtyard river outside the gate, and a white stone arch bridge stands at the gate. Opposite the Baomen is an east-west stone street, and all the restored houses are lined up in the north of the street. Corresponding to the house, there are more than 1 acres of gardens with North-South style-"Jingyuan". There are pavilions, apricot gardens and mulberry gardens in the garden. In winter, there is ice on the lake, and in spring, the almond trees are full of fragrance.

during the reign of Hongzhi in the Ming dynasty, the Chang family moved from Huian in Taigu to Chelan in Yuci. After several generations of hard work, it went through Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu and Xuantong dynasties, and its heyday lasted for 15 years. In the mid-18th century, Chang discovered that the demand for tea in Russia and Mongolia was increasing day by day, so he opened up a "Wanli Tea Road" which started from Wuyishan in Fujian, traveled more than 1, miles by land, water and camel, and reached Moscow as far as possible.

as a family of Confucian businessmen who insist on "learning to be excellent is good", the Chang family attaches great importance to their children's academic education. There are scholars, scholars and painters in the family. In addition to the profound Confucian cultural connotation, the artistic content here is also very high. Doors, window decorations, colored paintings, plaques, couplets, brick carvings, wood carvings and inscriptions on Fa Tie, which are distributed in various courtyards, can be regarded as the cultural products of Shanxi merchants.
