What should you pay attention to when traveling to Vietnam and Laos?
Laos Travel Notes
Customs Entry:
? If you have no valuables when entering the country, you do not need to declare it. You can bring in 200 cigarettes and 1 bottle of wine duty-free. Bottles, in addition, the contraband items when entering and leaving the country are the same as those in other countries.
The ports on the Laos border are Vientiane, Houayxay, and Pakse, the port on the China-Laos border is Boten, and the port on the Vietnam-Laos border is Lao Bao. This way tourists do not have to enter from Vientiane. In addition, visa procedures have been relaxed, so there are no administrative difficulties in traveling throughout Laos.
Weather and climate:
The cool season is from November to April of the following year, with the average temperature from December to February being 16 to 21 degrees Celsius, and gradually rising from March to April. The temperature is as high as above 32℃. During the rainy season from May to October, the average temperature is 26°C. Sometimes it reaches above 35°C during the day, but drops below 25°C at night. Therefore, the temperature is quite cool at night. At the worst time of the year, it often rains continuously for several days. The weather in Laos is hot and there are many mosquitoes, so please bring sun protection, heatstroke protection products and mosquito repellent lotion.
Language:
Lao is the official language of the country, but Thai, French and Chinese are also used. In particular, Lao and Thai are roughly interoperable, so Thais and Laotians can all converse in their respective languages.
Currency exchange rate:
Laos currency is called Kip (LAOSKIP, referred to as LAK, also called Kip). Laos currency Kip only has banknotes, no coins, and is divided into 100 and 500. , 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 kip (currently the largest denomination), so when buying things in Laos, you will carry a lot of very low denomination banknotes, giving people the illusion of wealth. Most stores can accept US dollars and Thai currency. But Laos is a country where the country is poor and the people are rich. Most of the materials are imported from abroad, so prices are relatively high compared with China. The exchange rate is approximately USD100.00=LAK10,410.00, CNY100.00=LAK1,257.00 (the specific exchange rate is subject to local conditions). Sometimes the RMB exchange rate is more cost-effective, so ask several companies before deciding. Although the legal tender is the kip, Thai and US dollars are also widely accepted, especially in cities. U.S. dollars and Thai dollars can be traded directly in Laos, and there is no difference between the official price and the black market.
