How to learn IELTS: Four points to prepare for the IELTS listening test

Section1: Basic information assessment, that is, various number-related and name-related information, test points that will be examined in every exam. Section2: Usually objective questions are tested. If the exam encounters map questions, they usually appear in this section. Generally speaking, section 2 focuses on the introduction of place-based things, such as parks, museums, tourist attractions, etc. Therefore, when answering section 2 questions, you must focus on extracting unique information about the things introduced, such as museum opening hours, museum layout, classics Features etc.

Section3: This section is a challenging section in terms of question types. The main factor affecting the answer effect comes from the review of questions. It is difficult to choose due to multiple reviews. As well as the matching questions, the amount of information and vocabulary difficulty on the paper are relatively large, so it is basically impossible to review the questions before the audio is played, which results in distraction during the audio playback and a poor sense of rhythm in answering the questions.

Suggestion 1: Improve your ability to read quickly, learn to simplify sentences, and extract main information.

Suggestion 2: When answering multiple-choice questions, make full use of the indicative role of keywords in the question stem to prevent missing questions.

Suggestion 3: When answering matching questions, mark the options with brief Chinese meanings before playing the audio, and match the answer sentences with the Chinese options after hearing the answer sentence, which is faster.

Section 4: Although the question types have experienced several fluctuations in this autumn and winter, on the whole, section 4 still focuses on fill-in-the-blank questions. Although it covers a wide range of subject areas, candidates generally feel that the information they can understand is limited, but in fact the answers appear in the parts that can be understood, that is, non-academic information is examined in an academic environment.

Suggestion 1: Before playing the audio, accurately predict the part of speech to be filled in the blank, mostly focusing on nouns.

Suggestion 2: Divide the audio according to the subtitles given on the paper. If you are sure that you have missed the questions, don’t worry about them and continue to answer them later.

Suggestion 3: Never wait in the audio for content words that precede a space and form a modifying relationship with the space, so such words will be replaced with agreement or homology.
