Tashan Mountain, also known as Tazai Mountain, is the birthplace of Phnom Penh. According to legend, an ancient woman named Ben drifted here along the Mekong River because of the flood. She found a Buddha statue and enshrined it on a hill. Later, she built a temple here, and worshippers came in an endless stream, which gradually developed into a prosperous town. She was named "Hundred Bags Ben", which means "Ben's Mountain", and the local overseas Chinese translated it as "Phnom Penh". Tashan Mountain is about 100 meters high, and there is a statue of this lady at the top of the tower, which is filled with incense all day long.
