The concept of tourism location

Tourism location theory is a theory that studies the spatial pattern of tourist source, destination and tourism traffic, the relationship between regional organization forms and the relationship between the location of tourist destination and economic benefits.

Beginning in the West in the 1930s, the content focuses on the analysis of factors affecting tourist destinations. W.Christaller, the founder of the central place theory, studied the distribution relationship between the central place of a city and its surrounding tourist destinations, and thought that "tourism is bound to benefit remote areas, which is an economic phenomenon that avoids the central place and avoids industrial concentration." He classified the factors affecting tourism activities into 12 categories: climate, scenery, sports, coast, hot springs and health resorts, art, historical sites and ancient cities, historical sites and places of interest, folk customs and festivals, cultural festivals, economic institutions, transportation centers and central places. His research on tourism location adopts the method of experience and behavior research, so he has not established an ideal central location model.
